Did you know that the keyboards are different in Germany (can’t find qustion mark…)

I had the hardest time figuring out the @ sign!

‡™®ŒÐÞð‰å¥÷¾³©ßª !

£¬~ý€Æ™§ you, too!

came in with the keyboard that came with the computer he’d recently bought. it was a european model of some variety and had keys in various places for the different accent marks. even in america, i’m amazed at the differences you can find in keyboards. well, not that there’s all that many common variations, but all the keyboards i’ve used at home and school have been “normal.” well, my own personal keyboard is no longer normal by any stretch, but that’s neither here nor there. at work though, most of the keyboards are screwy, with a tiny backspace key, and the | key just to the left. everybody knows the backspace is supposed to be 2 keys wide, with the backslash below it.

WOW… I did not know that. Thanks.

I worked at a computer company once and they selected a “Euro” keyboard that could do ALL the European languages, (except Cyrilic-based). They said most Europeans have to send business mail to all other countries and want to use exact names of people, companies and cities.

Hmmm…I have a Cyrilic font…
Does that count?
It’s pretty…

I have the fancy Alt+shift to change my keyboard over to Cyrillic grin
of course the board does not accept such an alphabet.
When I was in Italy the Keyboard was a bit different as well. But, I did survive with it for 6 weeks.

Windows has a Character Map! Cool, its right under Accessories: ÁÝ»ÙØ

Are you over there now, iksy? Cool… Be sure to start a I’m in Prague and Montfort’s probably jealous thread when you get there!

Actually, I AM in Prague, and I KNOW you’re jealous. Tomorrow I go to Austria…
Knedleky, mmmmmm…

nocladnou

Where in Prague are you? Did you drink a Staropramen yet for me? Walk along the Charles Bridge?

There was a great Internet cafe near the river on Narodni Trida. There was another one, too, that was very popular, and closer to Betelemski Namesti (I’m sure I’m butchering my Czech) was too crowded, with a lack of a good net.connection.

But, damn, I wish I were there…

I hear Vienna is lovely this time of year.

yes, i just left vienna and have spent 2 days in the rain in salzburg. vienna is lovely, but salzburg is better. i cant figure out this bloody keyboard…
yes, i drank stropramen, but the budvar is better.
mmmmm, budvar…

You were in Vienna? Ach, I’m so jealous of you I could puke. Vienna is one of the lovliest cities in the world. Salzburg is nice, too, but I’m more of a big city girl.

German keyboards drive me batty. The Z and some other letter are reversed and like you said, I can never find the @ sign.

Have a great time! I hope this rain lets up for you soon…the forecast for Germany was nice weather later this week, perhaps it’s the same for Austria.

iksova: I liked Budvar, but Staropramen is better. I’m sooooooo jealous that you had some. Did you bring some home for me?

Nope, but Im bringing home some slivovitz and some kind of czech liquor but Ive forgotten the name…and some hungarian champagne.

AltGr + 2 to get the @ symbol…sheeeshh.

Also a few extra keys for you to use åöä.

Yup , Im in in Finland

Well, fine, that’s okay. Hrmph. :pouts:

I hope you have some good stories about Prague to tell me, then, iksy.
