Dammit, where’s the “like” button on this contraption!!!
Fur therapy is the best, and I’d bet Al was thrilled too!!

Glad to know Al wasn’t put off by the hospital smell. But then, he’s a Maine Coon, and it takes a lot to get them really rattled.
purple, you know the rules. Post that picture, so we can all smile happily over it.
I’m glad yesterday went so well for all of you. Just a foreshadowing of better days to come.

I have been following this thread too long! But I am SO happy that Mr. Shoe got to go home for the day. I’m happy for you both!
And, yep, I concur. Must see the photo!
I love the Dope.
I guess this means she won’t have to wipe cat slobber on TOS after all!
Seriously- if I came home from the hospital for the first time in 4 months (right?) and my cat napped on my chest the first evening-- I can’t imagine how happy that would make me.
A disability doesn’t have to be permanent to qualify for Social Security benefits. If your husband is unable to work for at least a year or can’t do the same kind of work he did before, he might quality. It might be useful to get information on his prognosis from his doctors and contact a lawyer.
After my last back surgery, I had to choose a new career due to physical constraints. Vocational Rehabilitation paid for me to go back to school and get my degree so that I could support myself again.
It might take a minute for him to get back on his feet and be financially independent again, but it **IS **possible. A lot of agencies won’t volunteer information. You have to keep asking questions and don’t give up.
Merry (belated) Christmas, and here’s to a much happier New Year! Here’s hoping that 2013 will be far more boring than 2012 was.
I hope the lack of an update is because you are having a wonderful holiday with TOS. Wishing you a happy and healthy 2013!
Damnit, why didn’t I think of that? :smack:
Celebrate with TOS tonight and update us when you can.
2013 will be your year.
Shoe,
Here’s hoping that 2013 brings you all the joy that was missing from 2012, and none of the pain.

:)Here’s to a new year full of improvement and blessings for Purple and TOS. May the bad times all be in your past now.
a happy, healthy, 2013 to the shoes!
Thank you, all of you, and a very happy new year to you & yours as well. He’s home on a day pass again today, and enjoying wheeling himself around. It’s getting easier for both of us to transfer him in/out of the car etc. and he can reach all the important stuff in the house.
That is good news.
My own experience was: once I hit this level, my strength grew nearly daily. It was amazing to see how quickly it came back. When I first got home I walked to the top of my driveway (rather long and steep as driveways go) to get the mail and nearly passed out.
After a few days I walked to the end of the road and back - and nearly passed out. But day in and day out I saw real improvement.
Here’s wishing that 2013 treats you better than 2012 did!

He’s allowed to come home now whenever he doesn’t have appointments, so he got to spend Friday evening, most of Saturday and pretty much all of Sunday at home. And I’m gonna pick him up after work tonight so we get a few hours together at home in the evening, go out for a bite to eat, etc. Normalcy.
Target release date is still the 16th. It’s comin’ up fast!
Woohoo!
Yaaaaaa
Yay!
