FWIW, my co-worker told me at lunch yesterday that he had pain in his thigh.
This is awesome, because…well, since before he started chemo, he had absolutely no sensation in the thigh. Pain = feeling…hope that he’ll get more mobility back and will get off the walker. And he’s up to a two pound weight in some of his exercises.
Great news (I think)! It doesn’t seem fair that something that came on so quickly should take so long to heal, but it sure does sound like he’s progressing. We’ll all keep on rooting for him!
Your guy seems pretty determined. From what I’ve seen with my friends, the ones who are determined and stubborn recover much better than the ones who just let things happen.
As I’m sure you remember, my sweetie had a quad bypass and was back to 80% at 5 months. A friend of mine who is 15 years younger than my sweetie had a triple bypass. He just let things happen, didn’t work at his recovery and had a wife who would do everything for him. Its been over a year and he’s only back to 50%.
I’m trying to give you some encourgement here, not stealth bragging about Bill.
I know that you are getting much busier now that TOS is in recovery, but please do check in and let us know. We do care.
I haven’t read this thread. I Just wanted to say that whenever I’m scanning down the thread list and I come across this one, I always read it as: My shoe is in the hospital.
Hardy-har har. Actually, since we only have a mattress (no box frame or whatnot) on the floor, he’ll be sleeping on the couch, until he either gets a lot stronger, or we scrape together the $ to buy a box spring thingy.
It’s a comfy couch, though. And it comes with cats.
Very busy. Being pulled in too many directions at once, what with work crap blowing up right at the same time and all.
But yes - this can be considered the official end of this thread. I’m not going to ask the mods to close it or anything (maybe someone else poking around the internet will have questions to add) but … well, he’s out of the hospital. And home.
Congratulations to both shoes! I know home will be very busy and stressful until he’s back to whole. (He will be.) Start a new thread to keep us informed, because we are invested in your well-being. You’ll have a safe place to vent.
Even though you love him so much, you’ll get frustrated and so will he. Let us absorb some of that frustration. We are sponges!
