It has come to my attention that one of my favorite people just reached his 1500th post.
Steve is a darling man. He is unfailingly kind and always there for his friends. He is also witty and wise. And in all 1500 posts, if he ever was anything less than a positive person, I failed to see it.
So here is his very own appreciation thread.
No one deserves it more than he does, IMHO!
Much Love, Steve. Thank you for being my friend, and for being the wonderful person, and friend, that you are.
Congratulations Steve (I can call you Steve right?)! 1500 never looked so good! Thank you for being such a good friend to my dear friend Scotti. I’m sure we’d be the best of pals if you just made the effort.
I will testify on mrblue’s behalf that he is a fine man, devestatingly witty with a dry sense of humor and just a plain out ol’ nice guy. It was a pleasure seeing him again at the Michigan DopeFest.
BTW, Scotti, Cranky put up some pictures if you want to see them. Find 'em here.
Scotti: You know, I was perfectly content to hide my 1500th in the shadows of Jester’s party… But certainly I appreciate the kind words and thoughts you always present in loving fashion.
If SDMB were a sitcom, we’d have to call it Everybody Loves Scotti…
Grace: Thanks! A friend of Scotti’s is a friend of mine… so sure, you can call me Steve. And feel free to e-mail me if you want me to make the effort.
BunnyGirl: Oh why, oh why did you have to link to the pictures? (Me <> photogenic.) Alright, everybody look at Medea’s Child and pay no attention to me, K?
(Still awaiting the inevitable, “Who the hell is mrblue?” remark…)
I too can attest to the wonderfulness that is mrblue92. Really!
When we had our Michigan Winter Dopefest, I ended up not being able to get a ride. Steve valiantly offered his services. He drove to my house in Flint, and very chivalrously decided NOT to leave me there, after briefly experiencing the chaos that is my house (including my perpetually naked four-year-old running to the door to greet him–I swear Steve, I tried to get clothes on her).
Then he drove us to Ann Arbor, in a nearly blinding snowstorm. And he drove me home, too, all the while playing some most excellent CD’s by goups that I’d heard of, but never actually listened to (dang, I really need to listen to pop radio more).
Oh, and he brought Medea’s Child to the Dopefest last weekend. I’ve wanted to meet her for a looooong time (not only is she awesome, I live in the same city as she does! Neener neener neener!). He made that small little wish come true.
All in all, mrblue is a truly great guy, one that I am very, very honored to know.
Well, I said it once, and I’ll say it again: Yay mrblue!
And yes, he really is quite the cool guy. My one and only Dopefest was held with him present, and I think it was quite good. (We didn’t have any massage chains, though…)
Not only funny and cordial, but also tall and a good bocce player. I’d say he was a good masseuse, but I didn’t get any of that action. Wait, I got a hand massage from another Doper, which was nice, but I didn’t get in on aforementioned chain. Wait, has Cranky gone off on a tangent again?!? Where was I? Anyway, mrblue92 hadn’t crossed a lot of board paths before, so it was very nice to meet him and now I enjoy looking for his posts. All 1500 of them.
I am STILL awaiting Le Sang and Medea’s Child to develop the Pittsburgh Dopefest pictures.
Not only is Steve a great person, he is an AMAZINGLY generous person. I wouldn’t have been able to make it to the Dopefest, had it not been for him. I live in the North Hills, and as any Western PA-er knows, getting downtown and into Squirrel Hill is no mean feat. Well, Steve had never been to Pittsburgh, I think. He drove all the way from Oakland down to my house, with the aid of only an internet gotten map.
He was also able to put up with my nervous chatter, which I really have to give him credit for.
Thanks for the kind words, guys. Undeserved, but appreciated.
Guin: Medea’s Child has the camera, and AFAIK, the pictures remain undeveloped (I think she said it was lost when she moved back home). Please be patient with her; she has a lot on her mind this summer, and the camera might have ended up at the bottom of one of those boxes…
Its currently on my desk. Somewhere. I think. My desk at home is not an undaunting task to look through. My dad and I built it just for me. Lots of bookshelf space and a huge surface, in poplar with a bartop finish. When you can see the surface. The way I “store” things…well…it’s kinda a solid mass…I think the camera is on one of the shelves, but it could be behind my monitor…or somewhere.
