It seems Mrs. RickJay will be having her gall bladder removed tomorrow or the day after.
What can we expect? How long will it take to gt back on her feet? What are the long term implications?

Of all my operations in the last 4 years the gall bladder was the easiest.
I had mine done laproscopically and I assume hers will be as well. I was up and around with minimum pain the very next day. I was back to work in a week, but if it had been up to me it would have been sooner. I just felt fine.
Sending lucky thought her way!
I’ll have to get back to you when I can talk to my mom. But gallblader problems seem to run in my family. She (she well as her father and now I have gallstones or so I am told) had her’s out and doesn’t seem any worse for wear.
She wasn’t layed for any long time. Bounced right back. But like I said I’d have to ask her.
There was no way that was 5 minintes!!! I meant she wasn’t layed up for too long. How can you talk that way about my mother!!!
Not to put a damper on this thread, but there was a thread on this topic which had its last post about a week ago–see here.
General consensus, no big deal.
Ok, mom who had ths done before lapiroscopi, which made this even easier says it’s not that big a deal. She was home in four day and back to work in 6 weeks. But it’s better than it was then.
My sister had the same done a few weeks ago and like you, she was up and around in no time.
I had my gallbladder out last year. I went in to the hospital at 6, scheduled for surgery at 7:30, in the OR at 7:30, home by 1. No big deal. Once the anesthesia wore off, I was back up to normal. Of course, the caveat is that mine was laproscopic. Get her some gas-x if hers will be – the gas will be painful in her shoulder. Really, it’s just not a big deal, very easy surgery. I had mine on Thursday, back to work Tuesday – could have gone back Friday, but hey they wanted me to take time off, who am I to argue?
Timely question! I had my gallbladder out a week ago. Pre-op was worse than the surgery. No food the day before and I had to drink awful stuff to clean out my bowels. No food before surgery, which was at 12:00. I’ve never had any real medical procedures and I was worried about everything, but it was a breeze. The anesthesialogist stopped by and started my IV. A numbing shot, got me on the first stick, no pain. I don’t even remember going under. I woke up very groggy. There were more and larger stones than they thought, but the procedure (I hate to call it an operation when it seemed so easy) went fine. I went to my mother’s house (since I live alone and I was advised to be with someone else in case there was a problem). I slept for another couple hours and got up and had some soup. I went back to bed, got up the next morning and went home. I was able to feed my horses, dogs and cats and do everything else I normally do. I’d scheduled a week off work, and the doctor said not to drive this week, and I could’ve easily been back to work by Tuesday (surgery Fri) but I did take the week since my mother was hospitalized for carotid artery surgery (she’s still in CCU but doing well).
I never had any post-surgical nausea. They gave me lortab for pain, and I took it the first day. The second and third I took it only at night so I could sleep better. I did feel sort of bloaty, and tight waistbands weren’t comfortable. I wore mostly sweats the first few days. I haven’t had anything the last few days and while the spots are a tad twingey now and again, I’m not in any pain. I’ve been so busy with my sister visitiing and my mother in the hospital I didn’t get any of the videos and DVR’d TV shows watched that’s I’d planned on doing. So I’m still behind on my TV watching.
Good luck to your wife. Baby her if she’ll let you, just because everyone needs some pampering now and again.
