MS Access wizards - Do a Mitzva!

Hey - my synagogue is running a fundraising campaign and I want to track it in Access '97. There is a Donations Database that comes as a part of Access, but it doesn’t really fit my needs. I’m hoping that someone here can help me tweak it.

I need to track Mr and Mrs Jones’ $5,000 5-year pledge. The problem with the template database is that it tracks pledges as one-time deals - either it is paid, or it isn’t.

Can anyone help me? I’m comfortable with databases, and could build this myself in FileMaker Pro. I am just all thumbs in MS Access.

Thanks!

I think that we need a little more info. It sounds like you want someone to be able to make a multiyear (or multisomething) pledge and have MS Access track the pledge by installment rather than as a one time pledge. I need you to confirm this before we continue too much farther.

However, I can imagine a scenario where you create a table that stores pledges by installment amount, the date that they are due, and whether it not they have been fulfilled. This table will be the heart of the database.

The trick is to populate this table with records automatically through a form or some other mechanism. You could fill in a form with the total pledge amount, the number of installments desired in a form and then have the database automatically insert records into the table that I have described above. Other queries or forms could display those whose payment is coming due or is past due.

Does this sound workable so far??

Confirmed.

Agreed.

That is just about what I envision, although I was just going to take advantage of the template that I already got with Access.

BTW, I have bucketloads of data already, in Excel.

You bet!

I’m allowed just one self-serving and selfish bump, right Manny?
