ok so i’m playing some ms solitaire while waiting for a download the other day, and started to wonder about the scoring scheme in the game.
i know you get +5 points for each move of a card onto a build pile from the stock pile, as well as +10 fo each move up to the ace piles, and -1 for every ten seconds of play elapsing, and -100 for each time through the stack. but how are the bonus points calculated? i know you get more bonus points for finishing the game faster, but is that the only factor, and perhaps the most important question, can anyone prove that they have beat my all-time high score of 10281?
No idea about the scoring system bob, I just try to play it as fast as possible. Not automatically putting cards up top, and trying to see if they can be useful kept down is about the extent of my strategy. As for scores, well now you’re talking
You’re going to have to take my word on this, but I posted 11278 the other day, 66 seconds. I don’t think this is particularly spectacular, even, although it definitely says I play too much solitaire at work.
I reckon I could finish the game in less than 60s, given a sufficiently good starting hand. Someone who plays a lot of computer games, good visual awarness etc. could probably break 50 or so.
Who needs Halo 2 when every PC in the land is equipped with Solitaire?
i managed a new personal highscore of 10431/71 seconds. now wheres that screencap… here it is.
anyway, i still don’t get the bonus point scheme, other than less time = more points. it just seems odd that more than 90% of the points in a successful game are “bonus” points when in an unsuccessful game your score dwindles to nothing.
Not bad MikeG. Since my post above I’ve improved to 53 seconds, 13850 points. Can anyone beat that I wonder?
When I complete it under 50 seconds I swear never to play the accursed game again.
