I have a 47 page document in MS Word. I have selected the option to start the page numbering with page 86. I went to print one page (the current page) which should have been page 107. When it printed, it printed as page 116! What’s the story here? How can I fix this?
I’m only guessing, but there may be another page# set command imbedded in the text. I’ve had a lot of trouble with this function over time, and haven’t come up with a satisfactory answer. Headers and footers in particular seem to cause real problems with page numbering.
I don’t like the idea of wasting the paper, but try printing the whole document and see if the numbers are correct with no gaps. At least print the first page, to see if it really starts with page 86.
Try Print Preview first, just to see where the page numbers go strange. Then go to that page, delete the header and/or footer, and copy from the previous good one. (No guarantee, but I’ve seen that work on a couple of versions.) If that fails, redo the h/f manually, starting with the right number.
I miss the days of WordPerfect’s “Reveal Codes” command (F3, IIRC).
