msmith537, please enter

Hey Spoofe, want to lay odds on how many times Msmith is going to come back to let us all know how much he doesn’t care? I’ve got a sawbuck on four.

I’ll take that bet, Nim, and I say three, but with the added stipulation that Msmith throws in at least two Rolleyes smileys.

While that’s certainly true, Spoofe, wouldn’t you have to agree that people who care the most about what others think almost never claim to not care what others think? I think I need a Tylenol. :wink:

Now then. I’ve met Maria, I spent a day shooting in an enclosed space with her. Suffice to say, she’s a few straws short of a bale. Those above who claim the crucial difference to be CHOICE of public focus opposed to public focus by (un)fortunate birthright, yer on da money hunney. Ms. Clinton in no way chose the spotlight. Her moments of fame are a side effect of the Presidency and the aura that surrounds it.

I could care less what she looks like, who she is dating in college or what she does in her adult life. She’s as deserving of full privacy as anyone on this board.

Cartooniverse

I’d have to agree with you on the intellingence and individuality of Ms. Carter. I don’t know her or anything, but I don’t consider her to be an idiot. I was merely making a comment. I didn’t realize comments weren’t allowed.

Looks have nothing to do with a person’s intellect. Let me state for the record, I’d be the last person to think that.

And, SuaSponte: I am not a moron. But I obviously did miss the point, which I gathered you were upset with msmith537 simply because s/he made a remark about Chelsea Clinton’s looks. I guess I mis-read something somewhere, so therefore I guess the WHOOSH was deserved in my case.

My post was also made tongue-in-cheek when I said that “for her sake I hoped it wasn’t”. I guess I should have added rolly-eyes or something, since it was obviously taken quite seriously.

However, I do think people are entitled to opinions whether they’re about looks, intelligence or anything else for that matter.

I had also made the mistake of running my head before I completely read the link you posted, something I can’t recall ever doing before. The remark she made was completely uncalled for in that particular thread, yet I still don’t see it as being “pit” material.

But we do all have our own opinions. Called for or not.

I still fail to see what’s so horrendous about msmith’s actions that would be worth all the bitching, whinning, kicking, screaming, arguing coming from both sides and the waste of bandwidth.

Like I said, I stand by my comment. You can me all the nasty names you like, but the fact remains that I think Chelsea is a horse-face with blow-job lips. I won’t apologize for it. I am not going to even attempt to justify my statement.

Now, if you want to bicker back and forth over it like a couple of schoolgirls, well I won’t be able to oblige you. I would prefer to limit my posts to subject matter that actually interests me.

msmith, ya putz, I’ll explain this to you, and I’ll use small words so you can understand. Oops, “understand” has three syllables - change it to “figger it out”.

This is not about your opinion about what Chelsea looks like. Instead, it’s about expressing that opinion. Say you were at a party - not that you’re likely to be invited to any - and you see a pretty damn unattractive person across the room. Do you:

a) point and stare;
b) comment to the people around you who ugly that person is;
c) keep your damn mouth shut.

Second, you are equating looks with personality. While that may be true in your case, you warhog-faced buffoon, you have no reason to think or know that about Chelsea Clinton.

On a final note, a woman have blow-job lips is a good thing, not a bad thing.

Silky, sure you can make any comment you feel like. Those who hear/read it can decide that you are a moron for saying/writing it. Fine, you think Amy Carter is ugly. Many people may agree with you. However, most of those people have been raised well enough not to express that opinion.

God forbid someone express their opinion.

It was relevant to the topic, not very, but it was.
He was making a comparison between the last 2 first duaghters.

Sua, I think we all think that this thing has dragged on long enough without resolving anything or holding any purpose. Let it go. You don’t like msmith, whoop-dee-doo! Had his comment caused the thread in question to derail and go in a totally different direction, I could understand. Like him, you have expressed your opinion. Unlike him, you have taken many days dragging this out, as opposed to the 5 seconds he took to type

Perhaps he was trying to be humorous? Perhaps it was wrong of him? Perhaps others found it funny? Is it all really worth a Pit thread?

Maybe not out loud. And that’s crap anyway. Just because you think it and don’t say it doesn’t make you any less a hypocrite.

And as Guinastasia said, it really doesn’t matter. Looks DON’T have shit to do with intelligence. The most “unattractive” people I have ever known have usually turned out to be the most brilliant ones I could ever have the good fortune to meet and know. The strange part is, the ones I know that are breathtakingly gorgeous usually have the minds of pinecones. Which is the main reason I happen to have a warm spot “ugly” ones. This can only be a good thing for Amy Carter, or Chelsea Clinton or Donald Trump, for that matter…if we’re going to continue in this vein. God knows that man could snag lightning.

Oops…I am being un-PC, again. It’s still pretty much true, though. :slight_smile:

It happens.

And Mercutio…you’re right. None of this horse spittle is worth a pit threat. The only reason I responded is because it got my lazy ass out of MPSIMS and IMHO. I have only the divine Sua to thank for this! Even if he does look down his nose to do it…:smiley:

I would argue that Chelsea did puncture the “veil of silence” that mostly surrounded her throughout the Clinton years. As an adult she chose to participate in several high profile political events, policy debates (though mostly behind the scenes and who knows to what extent), and photo ops. At public expense (probably) and as an adult, she chose to accompany her parents on trips around the world. If she wanted to avoid public comment she should have left the public sphere as soon as she was able to make that decision.

That said, I’ve never understood the desire to comment on the appearance of famous people who are not famous for their looks (comment on Rebecca Romijn-Stamos not Chelsea Clinton; comment on Kevin Spacey’s looks not on Katherine Harris).
