MSOffice fonts problem

Hi guys, I use MS Office Professional 7, and until recently, enjoyed this program.
I am an author and my newest title is being refused by Smashwords because some fonts are showing up in yellowish [baby poo color]. In my MO I keep asking for automatic as fonts need to be black for uploading to epub Kobi, etc.
No matter what I do, some of the sections of the document change into this yellow color. Is this a problem with my software or something else? I have tried for weeks to fix this, and am still struggling. Thanks for anything you can spare to help.

Moved from ATMB to GQ.

Is it possible you have the “track changes” option enabled? Any changes you make to your document will then appear in a different colour, no matter what your font settings are. If this is the case, you need to issue the command to accept the changes, and then turn off the change tracking feature.

A uninstall/reinstall of Office would be my first step. Be sure to delete the Ms Office folder in Program Files.

I’ve had office get corrupted on staff pc’s at my work. I’ve seen office do some weird stuff. Reinstall takes care of it.

Your Normal.dot template may have gotten messed up. That’s where all the defaults (margins, font, size etc.) are for a new document. You should get a fresh copy of normal.dot after a reinstall.

Last resort ---- I have copied/pasted my document into Notepad to strip away all formatting and create a plain text file. Save it. Then copy/paste back into a New Word Doc. Then I can format my new doc and hopefully avoid whatever ruined the other version.

My documents are usually less than 4 pages. Reformatting isn’t a huge problem for me.

You mentioned a book. Not something you could easily reformat. Someone else may know a utility that strips out bad formatting without wrecking the document.

Word doesn’t support Reveal Codes like Word Perfect. Finding a bad format code in a Word doc is hit or miss.

Good article on normal.dot or normal.dotm in Office 2007. He mentions if the file is deleted Word will recreate it using the standard defaults. A quick fix if normal gets corrupted. He explains how to search for the file and delete.
