Netflix carries all the MST DVDs, even the box set releases.
Thanks
Damn hit reply to soon. It was supposed to say: Thanks. I’m looking forward to renting all of them and of course not copying any of them. That would just be wrong.
Are you sure you aren’t thinking of “Deeeep Hurting!”?
I guess its next Sunday AD, because “20 minutes into the future” was already taken. (Max Hedroom)
I just watched the one episode I have with Larry, and while I didn’t hear the words “Deep 13,” they’re clearly in some sort of subterranean lair that does not look noticeably different from Deep 13.
Which isn’t inconsistent with what I said - fiver was asserting that Gizmonics was at Deep 13 - but it’s not. Deep 13 is below Gizmonics.
In episode #101 - The Crawling Eye - Joel asks the Mads if they’ve been kicked out of Gizmonics Institute for sending Joel into space. Larry tells him they’ve moved and Dr. Forrester actually says, “Welcome to Deep 13.”
Joel notes that he once had to clean up a flubber spill there and that’s it’s very radioactive.
Gotcha. Misread what you were saying.
Hmm … you’re right, there’s no Larry/Lawrence Erhlich/Erhardt listed on IMDB at all, and I just got the book from Project Gutenberg and neither Forrester nor Erhardt appears in it. A quick Google search proves I didn’t make up this factoid, but I’ll definitely stop spreading it around now!
Ah here we go. From the MST3K FAQ:
Q: What about Dr. Lawrence Erhardt? Didn’t that name come from “War of the
Worlds” as well?
A: Despite what you’ve read here in earlier editions of the FAQ, the
answer is no. Josh Weinstein thought of the name himself. It was based on
Werner Erhardt, the EST founder. Josh thought that the name had an “evil”
ring to it. And he selected the first name “Lawrence” because he thought
it sounded pretentious.
I must have read in the FAQ many years ago, and all this time it was wrong. :smack:
Then repeat to yourself, “It’s just a show
I should really just relax …”

Hey, here we go! Deep 13 all along then, and they just nixed the reference to Gizmonics in the credits when Joel left.
I really need to see more of those early episodes… sigh.
