The theory presented seems plausible. I have not run into any serious discussions that elaborate on it, either for or against. If normal web searches such as www.google.com or www.alltheweb.com don’t bring back any useful information, you might try an FTP search looking for anthropologists exchanging information: http://ftpsearch.lycos.com/ .
