Much ado explained.

To answer a few questions for those who might honestly wonder. Yes, I saw the pitting from four days ago. No, I did not choose to take the bait, but instead have been taking a break from the boards. This has been made easier by the fact that it’s warm outside, and a friend of mine graduated from their college courses. So, I’ve been out in the sun enjoying life away from the computer with friends and loved ones. Hopefully this post clarifies things for those who don’t understand why I haven’t replied. I’m off now, back to maybe lurking but certainly not posting here for a bit at least.

FTR, I take medicine every day, and attend therapy and counseling. (Paid for by my disability) I don’t choose to keep things buried, I’m facing up to things that have happened to me, and dealing with the aftermath so I can eventually set aside the hurt and move on. This, contrary to certain people’s beliefs does not make me “You know…” “fragile mentally” “a perpetual victim” or unable to cope with and live in reality. It makes me willing to live, and grow.

I hope you all are enjoying the warmth, and have a chance to get outside and have some time to relax and enjoy life. Bright Blessings.

I really don’t see how responding to a pit thread would be ‘taking the bait’ - that sounds like something you’d accuse a troll of doing

I just want to know what Hero saw in Claudio in the first place?

He’s a real jerk if you ask me.

Well, Beatrice didn’t exactly shine either - “Kill Claudio.”

The real puzzle, though, is what the maid (Margaret?) saw in the henchman!

Beatrice would’ve killed him herself if she could have. And, she had a point. He humiliated Hero in front of the entire town.

BTW, Zabali, I’m glad you’re back.

Welcome back, Zabali.

And yes after he does this she takes him back?!?

He and the price act like jerks when they hear the news from her dad and uncle and laugh off the idea that Claudio may have to duel one of these old guys. It’s not until Benedict challenges Claudio to a duel do they realize their in hot water.

Well, yes, but let us remember what century we’re talking about, here. Arranged marriages are pretty much the order of the day, and 'til Comte Claudio expressed interest, Senor Leonardo was really hoping to have his daughter betrothed to the prince. But I did think it was a little thin, that he would take the word of his deposed brother (ugh, now I have to forever see Keanu Reeves in that part) over the word of all the people he trusts.
The banter between Beatrice and Benedic will always be my favorite part of that play.
So. Zabali. What’d you do with your time off? Get out in the sunshine? Have some fun with the kids?

Ah, Don John the Wooden.

Mind you, Michael Keaton and Ben Elton’s bizarre Monty Python and the Goly Grail tribute was what spoiled it for me.

Although I don’t think much of Keanu Reeves as a rule, I thought he was perfectly adequate as Prince John.

As far as the Michael Keaton Pythonesque bits, I think you may have to blame Shakespeare if you didn’t care for it. It was, after all, his dialogue:

Dogberry: Dost thou not suspect my place? dost thou not
suspect my years? O that he were here to write me
down an ass! But, masters, remember that I am an
ass; though it be not written down, yet forget not
that I am an ass. No, thou villain, thou art full of
piety, as shall be proved upon thee by good witness.
I am a wise fellow, and, which is more, an officer,
and, which is more, a householder, and, which is
more, as pretty a piece of flesh as any is in
Messina, and one that knows the law, go to; and a
rich fellow enough, go to; and a fellow that hath
had losses, and one that hath two gowns and every
thing handsome about him. Bring him away. O that
I had been writ down an ass!

Hey nonny, nonny.

Zabali - why would you start a thread called “Much ado explained” and then not explain anything that we didn’t already know - which is that you were deliberately avoiding that pit thread.

Are we allowed to start new threads basically just to respond to a different thread that we’re avoiding?

Cisco, when were you blessed with the ability to decipher other people’s motives? Why would anyone intentionally submit themselves to a mass pile on? So she’s lurking and laying low. Maybe she is actually taking some of the advice offered in that Pit thread, and doing some soul searching.

Now, if we could please get back on topic?

I love that Kenneth Branagh has managed to resurrect interest in putting Shakespeare’s work on the big screen. I think this movie is the one that did it, although Henry V was wonderful.

Now, am I the only one who wanted to know WHAT, exactly, Don John did to make his brother so ticked off?

It was obvious what she was doing, because she had done it in the past, but I don’t remember ever saying anything about her motives.

I don’t know, maybe to tell their side of the story? I’ve been piled-on here before. Oh, believe me, I mean piled on, much worse than Zabali, and I didn’t leave the thread or the boards. I like most of the people that piled on me now and as far as I know they like me. I doubt that outcome will ever happen with Zabali because she refuses to acknowledge people who have valid criticisms of her.

I seriously doubt it. This is the same type of blabber that got her pitted in the first place (along with many other things.)

Well, gee…since you put it that way. I can’t for the life of me think why she wouldn’t rush there straightaway. It’s obvious you and others would be nothing but supportive and understanding once she explained herself.

Not everyone handles situations the same way. Some people face it head on. Some don’t, they’re not confrontational people. Just because someone doesn’t react the way you feel they should doesn’t make them less of a person.

Oh, now I’m saying she’s not a person. That’s twice you’ve put words in my mouth in this thread.

Is there some kind of greater point you’re trying to make here? Because I don’t get it. We have a whole forum for people that disagree with each other. Zabali was taken to task in that forum and refused to respond; instead opting to respond in a forum where she was invulnerable.

And, yet, instead of just letting it go, you’re here, rubbing it in her face becaaaauuse…? Would probably be my main point. Are you seriously telling me you came here to say “You come to the pit and take your medicine, young lady! We have gone through all the trouble of pitting you, you need to respond!” ?

And, you asking “Are we allowed to start new threads basically just to respond to a different thread that we’re avoiding?” sounds an awful lot like defining a person’s motives.

I’m not trying to put words in your mouth. I am seriously, honestly asking: are you asking that the OP show up in the Pit thread to defend herself because it’s what you want her to do? Merciful heavens, WHY??? What’s it to you? I am not trying to be inflammatory, I just don’t understand; heaven knows there are posters I don’t care for. I just avoid them. Don’t you?

No, you’re NOT allowed to open threads in other forums to answer Pit threads. Either answer in the Pit thread, start a new Pit thread, or don’t reply at all.
