Heroes 10/1/07 - "Lizards" (SPOILERS)

Last week: Hiro meets his idol and steps right on his feet of clay. Peter’s amnesiac in Ireland with, apparently, a new electrical power and one of them there symbol necklaces like the Haitian used to wear. Nathan’s turned into a barfly (barfly, get it? 'cause he flies) with delusions of scarrification. The Bennets are trying to blend but that Claire, she attracts stalkers like flies (get it? 'cause he flies too!). At least one new hero is heading up from south of the border, Matt’s a NYC cop, Molly’s freaking out and Mohinder’s working both a fabulous new haircut and The Company from the inside. And Mama Petrelli is Marked For Death while Papa Nakmuro swan dives off a building after being pushed by the Unabomber.

This week: “Lizards”? Really? OK, sure, lizards. Why not?

If Hiro wasn’t stuck in Japan, I’d speculate that “Lizards” might mean he’s finally going to run into that dinosaur. But I’m sure in reality it will just turn out to be some very mixed metaphor that Mohinder pulls out during his breathy beginning monologue.

I missed this last week, did the British samurai have a power?

I really hate Smallville (which is what I’m gonna call Stalker-boy here). I really hope he’s not so important (Molly’s boogieman, for instance) that we need to have him around for much longer. He can go hang out with original Zach, Claude, and Wireless over in the abandoned characters bin.

Last season, NBC provided Heroes with “The Company”.

Tonight we get “The Box”.

Just like over on Fox, where we had, “The Box”.

Anyone else who catches both Prison Break and Heroes getting sick and tired of this already? Or am I smelling a rat, somehow?

Holy crap, she’s La Llorona. eeew.

Also eeew: Claire’s thing with the toe is about the grossest thing she’s done.

And, I find I’m not liking either of the repeat-power characters. But Angela is still awesome. (plus: Angela and Sulu!!  )

Just how much pain does Claire feel anyways? that toe thing seemed to hurt her, but sticking her hand in boiling oil didnt.

Last week, it was just hinted “he has a power.”

This week we saw it:

like Claire, he can regenerate/heal. He gets shot with arrows, dies of massive blood loss, the wound closes, he wakes up. Anybody want to put odds on him being a Petrelli great-great-great grandfather?

And it looks like the theory that Nathan Petrelli is The Hoodie is on shaky ground. Now it wouldn’t be a guy pushed over the edge killing everybody. It’d be a killer conspiracy.

Eeeeeeeeewww! Ew! Ew! Eeeeeeew!

The toe thing was cool and all, but eeeeeeeeeeeew!
So when does the Claire clone saga start?

It was gross. I’m glad they did it. I forgot how twisted Claire was with the self mutilating experiments when the show started.

There is no way Claire wouldn’t look up with the dog barking at the sky like that.

I was kind of happy when the white samurai got shot. I think they are teasing us that Hiro will be Kensai but it will turn out to be the Englishman after all. I hope what we saw was not Hiro reversing the wounds on the guy.

It didn’t seem believable that Peter didn’t get the box from that guy through a TK reflex. Just as he reflexively or even consciously. He already used it against one of McSorley’s men. I suppose he got the lightning from whoever locked him in the box.

It didn’t seem credible that they would think he stole a container full of iPods and then returned to lock himself in the container.

It appears my DVR cut off the last few seconds or so. The last thing I saw was West (I think that’s his name) lurking outside Claire’s window, Claire spots him, and she jumps up off the couch…and that’s all I got. What more was there after that?

Oh and in a seeeerious :smack: moment: So Mohinder heals the dude, he’s sitting up in bed, and I think “ooh where do I know that actor from? wow he’s so familiar.” Then later on when Bennett turns and there’s…wait for it…the Haitian! OH DUH SARA MAYBE THAT’S WHY YOU RECOGNIZED HIM. :smack: :smack:

Yeah, the Irish Gang is… not too bright. More than a bit dim. Okay, they’re as dumb as a bag full of rocks.

… Peter might just be able to outthink them.

And was it just me, or is the whole Irish Gang comprised of Hey! It’s That Guy! guys? Irish lass I’ve seen before, Irish boss too, and there was Irish Hey! It’s That Guy From Enterprised (Which Sucked)!

I almost expected them to start with the subtitles for the Irish Scenes, as well. I think that they had so much fun with Hiro + Ando subtitling all over the place last season that they’ve just gone overboard this season. Next episode Mohinder will no doubt have to fly to Antarctica for some inane reason, mysteriously know how to speak Penguin, and we’ll get all the subtitles for that, too.

Right, but it also wouldn’t seem credible that he was locked up where all the iPods were supposed to be and he didn’t know anything either.

Claire runs outside with Mr Muggles and finds a copy of Papa Suresh’s book on the ground. Mr Muggles barks up at the sky but Claire doesn’t look up.

I could not be less interested in the Hiro in feudal Japan storyline. Not even a semi-nude Sark is holding my interest.

I wondered why Peter didn’t TK the box away too, but then decided it was because he didn’t have the fine control to bring it to his hand as opposed to, say, flinging it through a window and into a pond or something. There also seems to have been a change in how Peter’s powers work. Supposedly he accesses them by focusing on his feelings about those who originally had them, but what sort of feelings is he going to have about, say, DL that he can access DL’s phasing? For that matter, if he’s amnesiac how does he know about his feelings for anyone?

I wanna know more about the symbol. It seems to be everywhere and everything. In addition to its popping up Easter eggily, in-story it’s Kensai’s sigil, it’s the logo of Papa Petrelli’s law firm, it’s the cover of Papa Suresh’s book and it’s something of reverence for the Haitian.

Is it cynical of me to think the only reason Claire’s car was stolen was so they could product-place a different Nissan next week?

When they were on the Roof of Blue Light, black cop asked mindreading cop if he knew anybody who could fly. I thought he and everybody else in the area saw flying guy blast off at the end of last season with ‘splodin’ boy. Why would the existence of a flying guy still be unknown?

And I agree that they are not consistent with cheerleader’s pain threshold. When she was filleted like mackerel on the autopsy table last year she didn’t seem to feel any discomfort, but she did look pained when she cut off the toe. I assumed that she didn’t feel any pain. Even if you could magically heal from all injury you’d still try to avoid all injury 'cause it would hurt until you healed. Right?

Minor quibbles aside, this was much better than the season opener.

I think that nobody really saw them fly. Nathan can fly pretty fast, after all, and there weren’t really any people around. From a distance, maybe all they saw was something like a rocket flying off into space and exploding.
As for Claire, maybe it wasn’t pain so much on her face, but more of a, holy crap, if this doesn’t work, I’m not going to have a small toe anymore.
I much prefer Hiro as Kensei than Kensei as Kensei. Guy’s a tool. I’m pretty sure that Hiro will get the girl regardless.

I know what that mean! Thanks Steven Gould!

I agree that this was better than the season opener, thank goodness.

Well, she knows she’d just have to hold it back over the toestump and it’d seal right back up. My big question: where was Lizard-hinder? He gets an ep named after his species and there’s no love…

wow THAT made up for the season opener straight away.

Not sure what to think about the Hispanic storyline yet, very interesting, but verrrrryy in need of some sort of explanation as to what exactly the chick does (the other guy seems to absorb and negate the power at some cost to himself).

I think the Irish leader is the guy with the lightning, they ARE dumb, but I think he’s handling the whole thing to well. By the Way, did he DL out of the ropes? it looks like they were still tied…

The attacker either A) simply gathers powers, or B) reflects powers back on to their owner somehow, which would lead to the conclusion that Angela Patrelli has some sort of mental ability, I think she was being attacked psychically, not by an invisible person.

Glad that Nikki still hasn’t shown up \o/

also damn, that toe cutting thing, yeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh

Edited to add: anybody want to fanwank why peter can use his powers if he has to “remember how people made him feel” to activate them?

He has been eating all the cockroaches in the apartment since it isn’t the sty it once was but now he’ll probably mutate … er … become a hero, grow large and stomp all over New York.
Claire seems to have forgotten about the time that she put her hand in the garbage disposal, she lost parts of her fingers then and almost completely chopped off the others.
