Heroes 4-23-07 ".07%" (Spoilers Probable)

Finally, after six weeks or so, we have a new Heroes tonight! I, for one, am very excited, as I consider it to be the best scripted drama on TV these days.

Let’s see, when we last saw them:

Claire, on the run and looking for Peter, meets her Grandma (and the Haitian)…

Mr. Bennet seems to be facing some disciplinary action at work…

Hiro acquired a new piece of cutlery…

And Sylar was thoughtfully giving Peter and haircut…

What will happen tonight? The synopsis on TV.com says:

Sylar and Peter face off. Sylar will face off with another Hero and Isaac’s new pictures show a dead Hero without a brain. Two unexpected reunions will occur and Linderman will reveal to Nathan shocking secrets and plans. We will meet a computer savvy geek and a competent security guard who works in the Corinthian Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas. A hero dies.

Hooray! Heroes is back!

I predict the thread will be at least three pages long before I get a chance to see it. :frowning:

I don’t normally do this (being a dude, and all, ) but…

SQUEEEE!!!

Holy fuck, I’m pretty sure my Heroes withdrawal is so bad that it’s worse than what heroin addicts go through. I mean…it has to be.

I really wish I didn’t have to work tonight, but I will manage to get the episode though covert means and watch it tonight, probably around 1 AM.

Wired.com has a feature on creator Tim Kring and our favorite Hiro Masi Oka:

[WARNING: some spoilers in the article]

This is episode 19 of 23? Can’t wait.

So, as Sylar pins Peter to wall:

“Knock it off, I’m trying to kill you!”
“Duh, I have a problem with that.”

I hope Nathan’s mom is feeling talkative tonight. I really want to know who she’s aligned with.

I know the promo’s are misleading, but I wonder who the spoiler’d bit is about, or if that is yet another distraction?

Huzzah! The return of Mohimbo and Telepcop and Captain Congress and Doppelbanger and the rest! Prognostipainting and constiportation for all!

I hadn’t seen the ep title previously and I am intrigued. OTTOMH my guess as to its meaning (spoilered just in case) is that Mohimbo is going to figure out that .07% of humans have the “hero gene,” which would translate to approximately 42 million people worldwide. This will not become immediately important but sometime in season three it will. But I’m probably completely wrong as I so often am.

Huh. I thought that referred to a new hero who can drink prodigious quantities of alcohol and still remain legally sober.

That would be a power that I could use…

My guess (or, really wishful thinking) is:

Psycho-bitch morphing chick

…but I’m sure I’m wrong.

I’m excited as well.

I, too, am excited by the prospective new episode of Heroes that will be airing tonight on my television.

We’re squeeing all over the place here at work!!

Spoiler-boxed for your pleasure:

The promo shows Mohinder alive, which is interesting, because I thought Sylar had him pinned to the ceiling in the last episode and was going to kill him. Also, Linderman seemed not evil when speaking to Micah in the preview. And the narration mentions the final five episodes of the show, so is it being wrapped up once and for all, or will it return next year, perhaps with a different storyline? I should, of course ignore the promo, because NBC often makes them very misleading.

I hope you guys cleaned up.

Dewey Finn, I’m assuming that they are referring to the final five episodes of the season. Doing a quick Google for, “Heroes season 2,” indicates that, yes Dewey, there is a Santa Claus.

ETA: I sure hope they resist the urge to go Lost on us next season. I remember that that show also had a really strong first season.

sigh

Actually, the Wired.com article linked to above answered some of my questions. I should have read it first.

They’re going to wrap up the nuclear-explosion-in-Manhattan storyline this season and start a new one next year. It’s clear that they’ve paid attention to Lost and know that a lot of fans are frustrated over the way that show is dragging out the main storyline.

Spoiler from one of the extended previews from Saturday where they showed a good portion of a scene (and spoilers for the graphic novel Watchmen too if you care about those things):
Linderman is definitely evil. He’s Ozmandius (from Watchmen) where he intentionally is going to set off a superhuman bomb in Manhattan to bring people together under one banner. He’s going to use that to put Nathan in the White House and pull his strings from behind the scenes.

I’m sure people will be talking about this later but it seems like a really strange plan. Unlike in the 80’s when Moore wrote Watchmen the world isn’t under a threat of nuclear annihilation from the division between two superpowers. So it doesn’t really seem necessary to bring people together like that and as a result it feels more like cribbing from Watchmen than a plot that brings the series forward. Maybe it’ll be better in context but I doubt it.
This is spec, so I am not spoilering it.

I think Issac is going to die this season. We already saw him dead when Hiro leaped to the future. The killed Simone, albeit accidentally, and probably won’t be able to handle the guilt or grief anyway. Also, Sylar has his name and address so it stands to reason he’ll be the next victim if Sylar isn’t stopped by Peter.

Oh, I am so excited, I am practically bouncing in my chair. I have Deal or No Deal on just so I don’t accidentally forget to change the channel in time. To heck with any other shows I used to watch on Monday, Heroes is back!

IMO Isaac is as good as dead. We’ve seen him dead, and so far everything that “happens in the future” DEFINITELY happens. Nothing has changed. The most misleading picture is the one with Hiro and the dinosaur, and theoretically that may still happen. I’m interested to see how Hiro gets reintegrated in to the main timeline and if that happens by the end of the season.

I’m practically wetting my pants over the Sylar v. Peter battle. (Or round one of it anyways!).

Can’t wait!

squee… wait… real men don’t squee

grumbles Why is NBC the only station with crappy reception?! Grah!
