Muhammad Ali's Gold Medal

“So… what did he do with that medal?”

Oh yeah, the question.
I think he threw it into the river.
That story fits the man, the times, and the situation. That it was “lost in a move” doesn’t.

So basically what we got here is a man who throws a medal in the river as a protest. Then what? Some 30 years later wants it back so they give him a new one.

I suppose there is no racism now so it’s OK to keep this one? I guess time really mellows people.

So does Parkinsons Disease.

If I recall correctly, he has Parkinson’s Syndrome (which I have always figgered was a potentially plausible way to say he suffered brain damage).

I think it’s pretty well accepted, then, that the original story is correct.

So, now I wonder: Who made up the story that it was lost in a move, and how the hell could NBC buy that story and go forward with that charade of a presentation?
