I really despise any of those “natural” or new-age remedies (acupuncture, homeopathy, chiropratic etc), but my mother is now suggesting that I take this:
She’s really a very credulous person, so I tend to be turned off by anything she recommends but I must admit that my food diet is very random and I suffer from most of the symptoms in there. She also says that she is feeling a lot better after taking these for what it is worth…
So is there any scientific basis for their claims? And are multi-vitamins supplements in general a good thing?
So to review: You “despise” anything natural…yet you are suffering from a bunch of symptoms of your random diet, and the one who gave you life is feeling better after taking multivitamins, which even medical doctors no longer oppose.
Sounds like you’ve answered your own question.
The mind is like a parachute…it only works when it’s open. (I didn’t think that up, but so what.)
No, I despise anything “natural”. Note where the quotes are. It means I despise the pseudo-natural stuff that quacks so often like to wrap themself in. Shit is natural but it doesn’t mean it is good for me to eat it.
And how does giving birth to me qualify my mother as an health specialist? They may no longer oppose it, but it doesn’t mean they find anything good in it - after all, homeopatic remedies still have a positive placebo effect!
Q.E.D: it is no longer online because they require people to sign-up now… Of course, it is almost as bad…
Anyway, I’ll use the scientific method and try them for myself and see if there is any changes. Was just wondering if they were any peer reviews or at least anectodal experience out there?
I believe that someday the truth concerning alternative remedies will be elucidated , but as of now there is no scientific proof of benefit. I personally follow the recomendations of scientists , rather than follow someone who depends on aligorical stories and anecdotes. There is a placebo effect , for some , for sure , and if that makes one feel better , so be it , but they will not be cured of what ails them. Pharmacutical companies test these rememdies every day , and if they find one that holds benefit they will manufacture it , they will have it FDA tested and manufature it. I would not buy anything that has a disclaimer on the packaging that says it will not work for whatever I intended to purchase it for. Most homeopathic remedy is water / alcohol with a supposed memory, and herbals are not natural once they are manufactured . How did homeopaths , some of whom are not educated become more knowledgeable that reknowned that scientists. Just my way of looking at this.
