Multiple people shot, unexploded devices found in Brooklyn subway

From what others have been posting online he seems an all around nutjob, he posted hate against black people but also hate against white people and cops too. He praised the black guy who killed all those cops in Texas (iirc).

Also people like to follow trainwrecks online, there are YouTube channels that follow other YouTubers with horrendously bad lives.

Apparently he called in a tip to himself on the crimestoppers line and was just hanging around until they found him.

You wouldn’t know that from the way Adams and the police are talking, but it’s especially interesting since one of his videos said explicitly that he wanted to see people die but didn’t want to go to prison.

From the news account it seems he saw one of the various “if you see this person, call” media/cell phone alerts and called the number provided saying “I’ve heard you’re looking for me”.

Well, yeah, sure they were.

Does he collect a reward?

So he failed on both goals.

I want to say that has legitimately happened in the past. Two guys commit a crime, one of the guys see they both have bounties on their heads, so he turned himself in claiming he would turn over the location of his friend for said cash reward. Instead they arrested him and he sued for the reward money for turning over himself. He lost.

I’d like to find a link to this. So far, I’ve been able to find some quotes along the lines of: Stupid black people need to wake up to the evil that whites represent. But most of what I’ve seen is pretty standard black nationalist stuff.

Sure. (Gifted link from WaPo.)

In January, in a 44-minute video titled “DEAR MR MAYOR,” James criticized Adams’s plans to address gun violence and mental health issues. Tackling violent crime and public safety have been pivotal priorities for Adams, the former police captain elected mayor last year.

James, who said he was born and raised in New York City, condemned employment and training programs for low-income Black youths, adding that he had been a “victim” of those and calling his experiences a “horror show.”

He warned Adams that his program might slow down gun violence and a mental health epidemic, “but you aren’t going to stop it. … Violence is a part of your city. Violent people live in your city.”

During the video, James said that although he identifies as Black, he was tired of those he referred to using the n-word, adding that he was “bitter,” as well as “full of hate and anger.”

(Emphasis mine).

Here’s more details on some of his videos. It’s a little tough to tell how much is actual hate of Black people when it’s all essentially lunatic rantings.

How did this guy fly under the radar for so long?

Does him saying he’s “tired” of a group of people constitute hatred toward them?

He posted about being mentally ill and a “mental patient” - if your post is intended to protect white supremacists by requiring that ideology to be consistent and rational or held by consistent/rational people; it’s irrational and appeals to irrational people, it has never been a rational ideology and you can expect it to appeal to a lot of people who hold incoherent beliefs, but like a lot of violence

Oh, I didn’t know that was that icon’s function!
So here’s an unpaywalled link:

See, you’re doing the exact same thing too.

People are already trying to find specific groups to blame for this nutjob when did guy was just a sponge who absorbed everything since all the stuff that’s turning up about him shows him dabbling in white supremacists ideology, black nationalist ideology, anti-police ideology. This guy just watched every conspiracy theory video on YouTube and went “Okay”.

If anything we should be talking gun control not everybody on Twitter trying to figure out who to blame.

TIL the reason the U-haul the police were looking for as well as every other U-haul vehicle is because U-haul is based in Phoenix and has been since the mid 1960s. They have some sort of special business agreement called an IRP which allows one location to send the registration money to the other agencies but the home base is the one actually registering and insuring the vehicles.

NYC requires a license to possess and conceal a handgun. So “gun control” has already been implemented.

Eh, you realize how many people in this country rant and rave like total lunatics on any given day about how there’s some people that need taking out… He did have a criminal record but apparently until now it was all misdemeanor-degree offenses.

Silver lining to see the jerkwad go 0-for-2.

I am NOT going to go into a rant about the state of mental health care in the US, so I will just say that anyone is allowed to be batshit crazy and giving so many warning signs that everyone around them is scared is no reason to just put them in jail. They have to demonstrate that they are an active danger to themselves or others before anyone takes action.

I was appalled at the lack of functioning cameras. I’ve seen airport monitoring systems when I worked as a rep for a cargo company. The coverage was way beyond anything I had imagined.

I would expect a monitoring system for a subway to be robust in it’s coverage and maintenance.
