it amuses me that Craig Ferguson has two interns in a horse suit every show, ready to come out and prance when summoned. i thought it a waste of time initially, but he had managed to train everyone on the show to dance everytime he rings the bell…
and… no more Mundane and Pointless Cafe Society Stuff, it looks like…
shame, really.
For no particular reason every once in awhile I get a strange picture in my head when I hear something. When I heard that Bud Collyer who did the voice of Superman in the old 40’s Superman cartoons came back and did the voice again in the 60’s Superman cartoon I pictured him sitting around by the phone for 20 years just waiting for a new job. Of course, like most cartoon voice actors I’m sure he did dozens of other roles.
My favorite running song is See the Lights by Simple Minds, and I always pick up my pace when it plays.
But yesterday, I made the mistake of paying attention to the lyrics. He’s not singing about hope or glory. This guy’s miserable. Shoot.
Um, yeah. Look under “Self.” Hosted “To Tell the Truth” for 12 years and “Beat the Clock” for 11, for instance. One of the biggest TV names of the 50s and 60s.
After over six months without any TV, I got a new one back in October.
I have since watched approximately three hours of live free-to-air TV. Somehow in that time local television, both production and scheduling, took a turn towards the sewer.
*I download a lot of UK and US TV instead
Sometimes I like to think that certain shows take place in the same universe, even though there’s been no indication of it.
At one point I was convinced Prison Break took place in the 24 universe, but then they introduced conflicting presidents, and my illusion was squashed.
on the topic of squashing illusions, i’m ok with the same actor in different shows. no matter if they’re playing the same type of roles or something completely different, my suspension of disbelief is intact. however, what takes me out of a show is seeing an actor i couldn’t quite recognise, especially if they have familiar tics. i would spend the time racking my brains to remember the face instead of paying attention to the show.
The first time an actor playing different characters really sunk in to me when I was a young kid was with Richard Long. I had seen him playing Jarrod Barkley on The Big Valley and then I saw him playing Professor Harold Everett on Nanny and the Professor. Seeing Long play two such different characters on a weekly basis finally made me realize that an actor is a completely different person from who he is playing on TV.
“gee ass da ble you” is not easier to say than “gun shot wound”. please stop doing that!
