Murder in my city

North Olmsted, Ohio. Population about 32,000. Moderately upscale. The city is chock full of malls, strip malls and restaurants. At one time it had the most fast food restaurants in one mile in the US. A nice friendly place to live. Not much crime, at least apparent to most residents. Most crimes are theft or assaults.

I don’t recall any murders here before but looking up crime statistics there was one in 2020 and another in 2016 although I don’t remember hearing about them.

Sunday we had a murder.

A 60 something guy walked into the Giant Eagle store we shop at and shot his estranged wife, who was a clerk. I would probably recognize her but the name was not familiar. The guy then shoots himself. The two were divorced in 2004.

The police station is actually across the street and response time was less then a minute. 20 police cars surrounded the store as shoppers fled through various exits. The store stayed closed Monday.

So it goes.

Wow, that’s blessedly peaceful! Last Thursday, the other techie in our department ordered a meal from a place called “Wilma’s” through one of the food delivery services. It never arrived. Turned out the driver was murdered in their parking lot when he got caught in a crossfire. It’s the second shooting there in a month. Lesson: Their rib tips are great, but order delivery. :flushed:

I saw that on the news. Its like we’re not safe anywhere.

Men murder their wives and ex-wives all the damn time. But divorced in 2004! Damn.

And occasionally vice-versa.

Maybe it’s time to repeal an amendment?

Oh, yeah, for sure. I was just commenting on this incident.

That’s some serious grudge time.
