Music and flirtation?

Okay, just some weirdness. I write quite a bit, and recently I’ve been trying to get into the ‘mindset’ of one of my characters, a Spanish priest who has fallen in love. I’ve always used music to help me ‘mood’ my characters, and so I got some appropriate music for said priest.

I’ve found an odd side-effect to it. I’m usually the type who freezes up when I talk to members of the opposite sex, for whatever reason. When I listen to this music, however, I get positively flirtatious, and I have no idea why! It’s pretty darn amazing if you ask me, though. Totally brings me out of my shell. Wish I could bottle this stuff- it’s fun!!

Judas Priest really does it for me too, man.

What music? If I may ask.

Juanes’ recording of ‘A dios le Pido’ is one of the big ones. I got it because I heard it on the radio and it sounded spanish and catchy. When I started finding out what the lyrics meant, I began to realize how appropriate it was for the character in question. Now I’m just finding it’s weird effect on me ‘in real life’, and I’m wondering if there’s other music out there I can use for the same effect. Having the flirting confidence is fantastic.

You already can get it in a bottle. It’s called alcohol.

It’s a belief (not fact) that while 1 or 2 drinks doesn’t severely impair one’s judgement and coordination, it can loosen one’s inhibitions slightly. Thus giving the appearance of becoming more outspoken and “coming out of one’s shell”.

Frank: alcohol in small doses can act as a stimulant even though it is technically a depressant, because the first thing it depresses are inhibitory functions of the brain (courtesy of my Drugs and Human Behavior professor).
