Music for when you "snap" mentally?

Alright then, my potential weird thread of the month…could anyone here suggest any songs or music that would be appropriate for those oh-so-common moments in life when you can just feel your last shreds of sanity be burned away like a moth in a flame, plunging you into the mire of gibbering lunacy?

OK, maybe it’s not that common…

In any case, about the last 2:40 of “All I Ask of You/Reprise” from the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack would seem to fit. Or perhaps **“Let’s All Get Demented”[/b ]by Ivor Biggun for a more(?) “accessible” choice.

"They’re Coming To Take me Away" by Napoleon XIV, of course, is a given. And from what I’ve heard, just about anything by They Might be Giants. Ditto for Warren Zevon.

And to go back to a more “classical” angle, Entry of the Gladiators would work. As would a few choice pieces from the “Batman” soundtrack.

'Anyone else have any other suggestions?

Great Fire by China Drum from “Barrier” would work for me.

the last couple of minutes of End by The Cure from “Wish” woudl also work - especially turned up really loud through headphones.

Seal’s Crazy. (uh, the name of the song is “Crazy.” I don’t know if Seal is crazy.)

“Flagpole Sitta” by Harvey Danger.

“I Wanna Be Sedated” by the Ramones.

For immediately post-snap:

“Comfortably Numb” by Pink Floyd.

When things get really bacd in my world, I listen to Radiohead a lot (especially OK Computer). It may not be the most uplifting of music but it really works for me. Aside from that, I just try to listen to very chilled out stuff like St Germain when I’m in the depths.

Poe’s “Trigger Happy Jack” of course.

I usually use Mozart’s Requiem in such situations. Dies Irae in particular.

Psycho Killer by The Talking Heads

No matter what degree of off kilter, out of sorts, near the brink, or just plain funky I may get into, nothing cures it quicker than the Allman Brothers Band “Live At The Fillmore East” and the cut “Stormy Monday.”

YMMV

Liz Phair, Exile in Guyville. Loud. (I also heartily endorse Kalhoun’s nomination, though.)

When I snap I play a lot of NIN… very loudly. Always makes me feel better.

Oh GOD! I LOVE That song when I am going insane!

Rob Zombie - Scum of the Earth

Linkin Park - Papercut

Joan Jett - Bad Reputation

Oh definitely NIN.

When I’ve about had it up to >here< with the people around here, Tool’s Schism or System of a Down’s Sugar keeps me from pouncing on someone, ripping out his small intestines and wearing them like a feather boa.

There is a Pink Floyd song, that I’m not sure what the title is but the only lyric from the song is

(please forgive me Euty)
Or you could just listen to The Wall.

Zebra… that song is simply titled ‘One of these days’

That’s a great stress reliever as is Run Like Hell!

Alan Parsons Project Breakdown

Queen I’m Going Slightly Mad

On a less manic note, my all time favorite song, U2’s Bad(Live) (listen to the words)

About half of Peter Gabriel’s song catalog.

I second The Wall and Mozart Requiem.

Also: Warning, Black Sabbath
Bad Habit, Offspring

Neil Young all the way, baby.

Words (Between the Lines of Age)
Down By the River
Cowgirl in the Sand

(I love the long wanky guitar solos, and the funky time signatures)

Piece of Crap

(fun to sing along to - “PIECE OF CRAP”)

Also Bob Dylan “Like a Rolling Stone”

I know this is a bit obscure for most of you, but Track 6 off of Psycho Bitch & Teri Bristol’s “Live Saturdays, April 2000, Volume E” is fast, hard, and frenetic… great for going insane.
