Alright then, my potential weird thread of the month…could anyone here suggest any songs or music that would be appropriate for those oh-so-common moments in life when you can just feel your last shreds of sanity be burned away like a moth in a flame, plunging you into the mire of gibbering lunacy?
OK, maybe it’s not that common…
In any case, about the last 2:40 of “All I Ask of You/Reprise” from the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack would seem to fit. Or perhaps **“Let’s All Get Demented”[/b ]by Ivor Biggun for a more(?) “accessible” choice.
"They’re Coming To Take me Away" by Napoleon XIV, of course, is a given. And from what I’ve heard, just about anything by They Might be Giants. Ditto for Warren Zevon.
And to go back to a more “classical” angle, Entry of the Gladiators would work. As would a few choice pieces from the “Batman” soundtrack.
When things get really bacd in my world, I listen to Radiohead a lot (especially OK Computer). It may not be the most uplifting of music but it really works for me. Aside from that, I just try to listen to very chilled out stuff like St Germain when I’m in the depths.
No matter what degree of off kilter, out of sorts, near the brink, or just plain funky I may get into, nothing cures it quicker than the Allman Brothers Band “Live At The Fillmore East” and the cut “Stormy Monday.”
When I’ve about had it up to >here< with the people around here, Tool’s Schism or System of a Down’s Sugar keeps me from pouncing on someone, ripping out his small intestines and wearing them like a feather boa.
I know this is a bit obscure for most of you, but Track 6 off of Psycho Bitch & Teri Bristol’s “Live Saturdays, April 2000, Volume E” is fast, hard, and frenetic… great for going insane.
