So i'm high. Now I need a "stoned" playlist. What songs do you recommend?

Well, just that.

Bob marley songs come to mind, but aside from that, I have no ideas. contributions?

Pink Floyd. Shine on You Crazy Diamond.

Minor Threat - Straight Edge.

Alternatively, you could go with some Youth of Today. Nothing like some militant anti-drug hardcore to cheer up ones day.

Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles.
Superunknown by Soundgarden.

Oh yeah, let’s not forget Cypress Hill, who probably haven’t written a single song that wasn’t about pot.

David Bowie. Todd Rundgren. Pink Floyd’s a gooder. The Nice. Black Uhuru. Burning Spear. Roxy Music. Yes. Roy Harper. Wishbone Ash. Kate Bush. Laurie Anderson. The Velvet Underground. Atomic Rooster. Shall I go on?

How could I forget Zappa?

Jimi Hendrix, Electric ladyland.

Led Zep * Whole Lotta Love *
with headphones…
just as the rush hits…

(ahem) or so I’m told (kaff).

As for Pink Floyd… In my youth, I found Animals to be their best album to listen to when, er, in an altered state. Give Hector Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique a shot too, if you have access.

Oh, and you’ll definitely want to pop in some peppy show tunes.

YESSS, essvee, thought I was the only Roxy Music fan out there. Came back with a few more: Rush-2112, The Smiths, King Crimson, Golden Earring.

hum, don’t give me band names, give me song names

Come in Peace-- Doubting Thomas
Ignant and Shit-- Screamin’ Jay Hawkins
You can find a whole bunch of other suggestions here.

Arlo Guthrie, Alice’s Restaurant. Shel Silverstein. Tunes from the Dr Demento Show.

The Longer I Lay Here - Petro the Lion

Listen to them with headphones. Fun

Buck Cherry - Lit Up

of course you might be on something else…

Just thought of another one: Yello’s entire catalog. You could start with Si, Senor, the Hairy Grill, and Oh, Yeah.

The Flying Lizards’ cover of Money.

System of a Down - Toxicity
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
Metallica - S&M (Symphony and Metallica)
Portishead - Cowboy
Incubus - The Morning View Sessions
Dave Matthews Band - Crash
Eminem - The Eminem Show

I am sure I could come up with more, but I’m in an altered state myself.

Personally, I like to start off with Who’s Gone, move on to Rubberbandman, then Blender, Tied Up, and Time Freeze.

And it’s nice to find another Yello fan here on the Straight Dope. I’ve felt, for a long time, that I’m the only person in the country that’s ever heard of 'em.

(Oh, I also like to throw They Might Be Giants in the mix.)

As for Pink Floyd or Bob Marley… well, I just too lost in their music to actually pay attention. I also enjoy some George Acosta.
