Musical Theme Park-- a game

I’ve heard a couple radio stations have lunch-hour games where listeners call in and request a song whose title fits in with a pre-determined daily “theme.”

So, I’ll throw out a theme, and you have to come up with 1-3 songs whose titles fit with that theme (no posting of long lists-- where’s the fun for everyone with that?).

Once we have 15-20 songs on a theme, somebody feel free to toss out a new theme. You’re always welcome to go back and post a new song for an old theme, just make sure you point out what theme you’re responding to.

Any popular music style is acceptable (rock, alternative, hip-hop, rap, R&B, oldies, country, standards…)

First theme: U.S. Geography

  • “Going to California,” Led Zeppelin
  • “Detroit Rock City,” KISS

I had to look up the artist on some of these, but these are all off the top of my head:

If You’re Going To San Francisco (Be Sure To Wear Flowers In Your Hair- Scott Mackenzie
Streets of Philadelphia- Bruce Spingsteen.
Oklahoma!- written by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II
