My first question for everyone, one that has been bugging me for years, is what is the deal with those white circular bumper stickers which simply say “MV” on them? I’ve seen similar bumper sticker with 2 or 3 letters within them, but MV seems to be the most common. The closest guess I’ve ever had is MiniVan except that I’ve seen them on regular cars, and it doesn’t make any sense why they would need to identify their cars as minivans in that way.
Thanks everyone, I’ve really enjoyed reading this board over the last year or so
If it’s oval rather than round, like the European-country stickers that some cars sport, it likely is for some local area. For example, in Kansas City, some neighborhood associations offer these with an abbreviation for the the name of their neighborhood. I haven’t quite decided whether I think they’re silly or pretentious–or both.
Anyway, if you live near Martha’s Vineyard, I’d bet Mr. Moto nailed it.
Around here the popular ones include “OBX,” which is supposed to stand for “Outer Banx,” i.e. “Outer Banks.”
Looks like “obnoxious” to me, but I guess it means the same thing either way since I see them primarily on Expeditions and Land Rovers that spend at most two or three weekends a year within a stone’s throw of the ocean.
