My 1st Anniversary was Sunday

And this time I did it right. My wife is often frustrated with my travelling. I go to a lot of conventions, sales trips and then with my major customers I handle AOG deliveries. So in the past year I’ve missed my wife’s Birthday, I was in SoCal the week after XMas, I could go on.

This time I knew I had to make it right. I decided we’d go to the wine country. I got reservations to the Hotel, called Amtrack, planned our tours, all unbeknowst to the wife. I called my major customers and told them to call my co-worker if there were any emergencies. Told the boss I was taking last Friday off and I’d quit if I was called over the weekend for anything. I told my wife to take Friday off also and I dropped the kids at their grandmothers on Thursday night.

Friday rolls around and I catch the news. Rain in the North Bay all weekend. Dammit! But there’s good news, no rain expected in the South Bay or the Monterey Bay Area. So all while my wife is still sleepling I rearrange eveything. I get hotel reservations (I had to get them in Watsonville as everywhere in Monterey was all booked) and plan our trip.

We had a great time. On Friday we visited the Jade Cliffs and Big Sur, and then had a picnic dinner on the beach. On Saturday we had breakfast in Watsonville then went back to the Hotel to change into lighter clothes to visit Monterey, we didn’t make it. Instead we…

So about five we decide to get dressed and go into Monterey for dinner and dancing. We tour cannery row and have a great sea food dinner. during dinner it started raining and it was really romantic walking in the rain back to the car. We never made it dancing either, we went back to the Hotel and…

Sunday morning we drive 129 through the valley to 101 and home. It was the best weekend I’ve had in years.

Happy Anniversary (belatedly), stuffinb. I’m glad you guys had such a wonderful time. Here’s to many more! raises glass Cheers!
