So, in a choice which struck me as a break with long-standing policy, my local PBS station has started running Dr Who. They started the 2005 series during pledge week 2 weeks ago. I found it quite by accident not knowing what it was & why plastic men were attacking some blonde girl, & went back to my paused DVD. A little later, I happened on same blonde girl in a clearly British scene where someone said, “You’re here about the Doctor.” (My uncle was a Whoie, & turned me onto the novelisations, but I’ve seen very little of the old series.) So I got to see the last, what, half-hour or so of the premiere. My thought: Am I going to miss this grinning idiot when he leaves in a year?
Then they took two weeks off, but I finally got to see “The End of the World” last night. I have been on a Dr Who kick. Who knew that Wikipedia was such an extensive Dr Who fansite? I  a little, but I appreciate it.
(Yes, I know that the 1st two eps of series 1 are online …somewhere, & I’m glad of it, since I was able to see the 1st 20min of “Rose” that way, but still, I’m watching it on TV 2 years late.)
Oh, & apparently series 3 starts this Saturday. Something tells me that with the depth of online Who fanaticism, I’ll get to see it before even a single year passes.
Anyway, any thoughts on that grinning idiot?
Oh, & this is cool: Lauren meets Ten
