my arm fucking HURTS

Yes, it does, and I don’t know why. My arms and legs ache on a regular basis and I’m used to it by now - my parents tell me it’s growing pains - but tonight it seems like the last goddamn straw.

Finals are next week and my throat feels like someone has rubbed it with sandpaper. If I’m lucky, I’ll come down next week with the worse version of this bug that my sister had, when she lost her voice and was crying because her throat hurt so much.

My hand hurts too, and it has since class started today. I don’t know why. My room is freezing and I’m tired but I can’t go to sleep because…

REGISTRATION FOR NEXT TERM CLASSES STARTED THREE DAYS AGO! I somehow managed to miss it. I need to register before every goddamn class is filled, but the motherfucking website won’t work.

I go to a fucking community college and online registration has been open for three days and half the classes are already filled including at least half of the ones I originally decided on.

THREE DAYS! I know I should have expected it but christ. Classes for this goddamn term haven’t even ended and half the classes are filled.

Fucking budget cuts are everywhere, a new one every week, and they cut classes and raise the prices and charge outrageous amounts for parking and take away the senior discounts that allow older people to get out of the damn house and educate themselves and the college still hemorrhages money. And the state screws us over and gives huge monetary bonuses to incompetent upper echelon educaters with 6 figure salaries and tries to shove a sales tax on us.

And my sister can’t do her fucking homework because her school doesn’t have enough money to buy enough books to let the kids take them home so if they aren’t quick enough to finish at school they’re screwed. And it all overflows into the crowded classes and underpaid teachers and there’s never any parking so I walk across the whole campus every morning in the cold. At least it gives me 10 minutes of quick walking exercise every day.

AND I STILL CAN’T GET INTO A FUCKING HEALTH EDUCATION CLASS 3 DAYS AFTER REGISTRATION OPENS!

Sorry for the incoherence, folks. I think I’m off to bed since the whorebitchasshole website still won’t work and how am I supposed to register now? I’ll probably end up taking some fucking “PC 101: How To Turn On Your Computer” class just to get credits for something.

:frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

[sub]That really felt good… I was about to start throwing things[/sub]

Growing pains suck.

as for your college thing, try applying for a state. If you live in california you can get fafsa to goto a CSU or hell even a community college.

Unless of course… your parents make too much money.

Three days ago? As in December 4? My my, wait till you get to a major university and get to register in October/November, and have all of your “desired classes” filled because you have to wait until everyone with more credits than you registers before you can.

Luckily, with 80 credits, I got all of my classes and at the times I want them.

Good Day.

If you’re fucking with your arm, then you’re DEFINITELY doing it wrong!

SORRY I couldn’t resist!!

Hoo boy, do I know about this! It’s all based on money now. sigh You ought to see my tuition bills for being and “out of state” student (even tho I moved to Calif. found a job and rent an aprt, I’m still “out of state” :frowning:

And that add an extra $285. for each credit over 6 credits per semester since I’m a grad student.

There ought to be some “back up” system for registration (I say “ought to be” but that would be logical, which doesn’t apply to university administration rules), so check you college handbook and see what systems in in place.

Good luck!

That was my conclusion when I read it, too. Hehee!

I had growing pains around 10-12 years old. My mother had a talk with me about them. She was worried that it might be related to masturbation! This being a new found ability recently discoverd, and to my mind something that I had hidden quite well. Now this is about 1972 and being asked about ‘whipping your weasel’ was bad enough, but imagine having that talk with your mother!?

Wait a sec… you have growing pains and you are in college?

I had BAD growing pains in my legs, but I was 8 or 9 at the time, I still remember waking up crying from the intense pain… are you sure it’s growing pains and not something else? Have you seen a doctor?

(I’m assuming that since you are in a college that you are 18 or 19, at least… that seems to me to be a bit old to be having growing pains! Maybe I’m way wrong… Nope, a quick Google search says I’m not…)

See a doctor!

Mine hurt too far too much mousing clicking

Excessive maturbation will do that.
So quit flogging the weasel long enough to get yerself registered for classes.

How did it you manage to miss the start of registration?
Do you talk to other students?
Did they know about the start of registration?
Did they also miss it?

It’s not impossible for Tanaqui to be having growing pains, I don’t think. New & Improved Scott (who is 24) still gets mild ones from time to time.

Sorry about the registration. If there’s a class you really want, keep trying to get in. Someone will drop it eventually. That’s where I’m at now

Freyr-- get a CA ID or drivers licence, register to vote locally, reregister your car, etc, and in spring fill out an affadavit at admissions saying you intend to live in CA when yer all grown up and they’ll give you residency from the next year on as long as you’ve been there a full year. They, I suspect, especially don’t want grad students on stipends and fellowships as non-residents (too much money of theirs flowing from dept to dept. . . of course this is my UC experience and can’t vouch for elsewhere). Unless you’re a foreign student, in which case you’re screwed and better advance to candidacy ASAP.

I do plan on going to a 4 year college later. I’m transferring. It’s not a huge deal – they aren’t classes I desperately wanted, so I’ll just replace 'em with something else and try to wiggle my schedule around to make it fit.

Yeah, I’m 17 and I still get growing pains. I’ll still be having them at 24? winces It’s not like a horrible pain, it’s just an ache that usually goes away with a dose of aspirin or simply lying still or sleeping for a few hours. It’s really, really annoying. My parents are both in health care so I’m not too worried.

How did I miss it? I’m not sure. I’ve kind of been in a fog lately. Like I said, I go to a community college… I don’t talk to the other students much. I realize it was stupid and my own damn fault… et cetera.

The rant was kind of pathetic, but I really needed it last night! It doesn’t help that today I woke up with my sore throat feeling even worse. :frowning: Hopefully it will be gone by Monday.

I’m not from California, incidentally. Though I half wish I could go to college there! I may just make do with a college 15 miles from the border… Thanks for listening, everyone.

My arm hurts too, but it’s from the damn flu shot and PPD injection I got today.

I hate friggin’ needles.

Mr. Doors, just wait until you get sent overseas. In the last month, I’ve had:

Hep A & B, two injections each
Flu shot
Dipthertia/Tetanus (right in the Traficant)
MMR
Dysentery
Typhoid
Yellow fever
Japanese encephalitis

And I start malaria prophylaxis and rabies injections next month. At least they’re doing the injections around my tattoo, so when they come full circle around it, then I’ll be done.

And Tanaqui, I feel your pain. I was a day late on registration once and had to beg six professors for a spot in their classes. Not a good time.

I Am Not a Doctor, but I’ve suffered from “growing pains” since I was young (I’m now 52). With me, it seems to be a lack of calcium. If I start drinking milk every day, the pains clear up. Just a suggestion…

Wow. I LIKE the course selection process at my school! Upper years get first choice, of course, but that’s because they are (in theory) almost graduated, and so need the credits more. I have rarely heard of people not getting into the classes they want, unless it’s some elective course that’s just plain easy so everyone wants it (Music and Pop Culture, anyone?). A lot of people don’t get the tutorial/lab section they want, but they still get the course, and they even occasioannly OPEN UP NEW SECTIONS if too many students complain. We register according to our “Semester Level”, which is a reflection of the number of credits we have. We can register online or in paper format, which, now that the online thing is working well, is actually almost as fast, especially if you needed a signature to get into a class. I registered for my classes in October, and so I know my classes for next semester, and the final exam schedule for next April is already up, so we can check for conflicts.

It’s a good system, and very few people get “screwed over”.

LOL - of course, now that I check…3 exams next semester. JUST 3! And I have 2 on the same day, though an hour between them. Gotta love the registrar! LOL

[bcapybara**, thanks for the advice! I’m going to follow up on it. I’m registered to vote already. I’m working on my CA d/l and registering my vehicle (tho I may sell it before then. Not sure yet).

I am a US citizen, native, not naturalized, so I have that going for me! Wish me luck!
