She meant this place, but I never heard of it before. They aren’t in my area.
All I know is that it’s a favorite of President Obama.
I don’t think you know what you have started… be ready for hundreds of replies saying it is either the best ever or way over priced. Then it will devolve into a discussion of if the fries are the best ever, or that they don’t know how to cook them properly and they serve way to many in the bag.
Personally I think they are very good, and the fries I’ve had there were very good and plentiful. I also like the peanuts.
Really? I was hoping for hundreds of juvenile responses to what his aunt said ![]()
Seriously, though, I was wondering if they had them all at once or one at a time.
Oh, there is no way they could take them all at once… haven’t you heard they are huge! People complain about one being too much for even two people. Anyway one at a time is definitely the way to go… dipped in Ketchup is also good.
We are talking about the size of the bag of fries aren’t we?
Their large order of fries has over 1,400 calories. McDonalds by comparison is at 550 or less.
Their small order of fries is too big. If they’d only fill the cup it wouldn’t be so bad. But they put in another cup’s worth (at least) of lagniappe. Too much food.
lagniappe? I know they have malt vinegar but I haven’t seen this by the condiments.
Maybe you go there once and think an order of fries is for one, but we usually share one between the 5 of us in our family… I’ll admit my wife doesn’t eat much and now that my boys are reaching their teens we may need to order two for the five of us.
Louisiana French from the Spanish for ‘something extra’. Like, in New Orleans if I order a slice of pie they’ll often serve up an extra half-sized slice alongside it. Five Guys overdoes it a bit with the fries.
Mr LA… you insult me. It was a joke… prepare to die.
OK, I had to look it up first but it was still a joke. (maybe an emoticon would help)

McDonald’s hamburgers are the worst. They are worse than Burger King. A Big Mac has 26 grams of fat. A Quarter Pounder has 28 grams of fat
Lagniappe is also the weekly insert in The New Orleans Times-Picayune. I used to take the paper in L.A. (not LA) a couple of decades ago.
So I missed a couple of periods… from an internet poster… hopefully no insult taken.
So I missed a couple of periods… from your girlfriend… HOLLY SH**
And I thought this thread would be hijacked…

So, what you’re saying is that you like Five Guys’ nuts?
I never heard of Five Guys before . . . now it turns out there’s one in a neighborhood I frequent quite often. I’ll be eating there within the next few days.
A couple of years ago there was a woman in our “lunch bunch” at work who was going on and on one day about “the taco guy”. “Have you had the taco guy? I had the taco guy twice last week”, etc. It took her a while after we started snickering to figure out what we were laughing about, and of course she took lots of ribbing for weeks about “having the taco guy”.
It wasn’t too long after that that Five Guys opened a restaurant here in town, so pretty soon we started asking her “Have you had five guys yet? You really should try having five guys”. etc. ![]()
Anthony Hopkins panned it. He said their fava beans aren’t up to his standard.
I think a large order of fries at Five Guys is much bigger than a large order of fries at McDonald’s, though. Their regular size is probably bigger than a McDonald’s large. Five Guys serves fries in HUGE portions, and even their regular size is way too much for one person.
::Google Google Google::
Okay, according to their online nutritional info (PDF), a large order of fries at Five Guys weighs 572 grams. A large order of fries at McDonald’s (PDF) is 154 grams. So a large order of fries at Five Guys is almost four times the actual size of a large order from McDonald’s, but “only” has about three times the calories.
If you split a regular order of Five Guys fries with a friend, which is the only way I ever do it, you’re getting a serving of about 122 grams, or a bit larger than a McDonald’s medium (117 grams). The calories/fat are pretty comparable, with a slight advantage to Five Guys despite the somewhat larger volume – 310 calories and 15 grams of fat for half a Five Guys regular order vs. 380 calories and 19 grams of fat for a McDonald’s medium order. Five Guys fries are also lower in sodium (45 mg vs 270 mg).
I am certain that someone is going to want to reply to this and say that they like McDonald’s fries better, which is fine, but it is not true that McDonald’s serves fries that are lower in calories. What McDonald’s does do is serve fries in much smaller portions. So if you’re by yourself and don’t want to waste money on a larger serving of fries than you’ll actually eat then you’d be better off getting fries at McDonald’s than Five Guys. But if you compare servings of the same volume then Five Guys is “healthier”, relatively speaking. Of course, French fries are pretty unhealthy no matter where you’re getting them.
We tried [del]Five Guys[/del] that burger place for the first time last week. We got three burgers, two drinks, and one order of fries which came to about twenty-five bucks…pretty stiff for a fast food lunch. However, we were pleased with them overall and I’d like to go again.
They have a lot of good burger toppings.
It looked as though they put all our food in the bag and then threw another serving of fries on top.
The store we stopped at had pictures of John Travolta’s visit on the wall. Unfortunately he didn’t stop by while we were there.
The employees smiled and actually seemed to be enjoying themselves. When we got home, I told my daughter to put in an application!
