My bad bad bad dilemma

I knew what an aglet was, but today, I learned a new word: placket. Thanks, all!

(And glad to hear that the problem is solved, Beck.)

@RTFirefly a placket is a reinforced(doubled and sewn) opening (slit, collar, cuff, hem).

I was a bit fast and loose with my use/discription of the “placket” on the hoodie face opening.

Tube/tunnel didn’t sound right.

Thanks!

Yeah, usually one speaks of a “drawstring channel” for the part of the garment that the drawstring goes through.

Yeah that’s the term I needed. Drawstring channel. Yep, perfect.

I just looked it up, the actual sewing term is “casing”. D’oh!!

What you needed to pull a string through a channel is a bodkin.

> a thick, blunt needle with a large eye, used for drawing tape or cord through a hem.

Yes I have one of those doo-hickys.

Somewhere.

That’s cool. But I was half expecting it to be a TMBG song…
