I am so very sorry for your friend and for you, as well, having to go through such a thing. I have a dear friend whose baby died of what sounds like a very similar thing (I do not know the name of what she had) and I was simply heartbroken for her.
As a mother, my love and prayers go to you all. Deepest, deepest sympathies.
My sympathies to you and your friend. You sound like such a lovely person, I’m sure your instincts will serve you well in figuring out how to best offer your love and support. I understand what you mean about that “air of unreality”.
I am so very sorry for everyone involved. May you all find peace in the difficult days ahead, wherever it may lie. Our prayers will be with them and you. {{{{{hug}}}}}
Just because it was merciful doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt.
Being there for your friends is the best thing to do.
As my husband said to me when I knew we were going to remove life support that day for a brother, " You don’t have to be strong. You just have to be there."
