My Big Fab Gay Wedding®: Our appointment with the bridal registry consultant!

So are either of you into power tools? You can probably register at Home Depot, if there’s one in your area – heck, you can register everywhere these days, I think! Although, come to think of it, you could register for those at Sears. Gotta love those Craftsman tools!

Isn’t that the foremost registration you forgot ?
and congrats to the both of you

Heh. It so happens I was just at the Bay today buying a clothes dryer, of all things.

They have some fabulous tchotchkes on the … fourth floor was it?

Anyway, congratulations. Considering the Hudson’s Bay Company was founded in 1620, being their first gay male bridal registry (at least for the Montreal outlet) is quite an achievement. (Of course, had you attempted it in 1620, you probably would have been up to your ears in beaver pelts, but that’s neither here nor there.)

Considering that “groom” is short for “bridegroom,” it’s not as unfair as it might be. Besides, you’re honouring the goddess Brigid.

How about some sort of upscale games and toys that you can bring out to play when you have guests? You know, like the better half of Pictionary or something. I’m sure for the newly married there will be lots of opportunities to entertain and this might just be the time to think ahead.

[And no, I didn’t mean those kind of games and toys! I swear! :D]

Super congratulations to you and Jeremy!!! Woohoo! Way to go because young love is SO beautiful. ::: wipes tear from eye :::

Wow, some great ideas here! Keep them coming!

hopefool, that’s a fantastic idea. Board games aren’t exactly cheap. I’d love to get the 80s edition of Trivial Pursuit. We’ll definitely put stuff like that on the registry.

matt, I like pelts, but not on beavers.

Aaaaah! I passed up a chance to go to Montreal with MrValley as a “conference wife”. He’s there right now. I can’t believe I could be there on Monday, checking out the registry in person (or spying on scottevil tomorrow). sigh

I forgot. You must have an espresso machine. Everyone needs an espresso machine.

congrats on the registry, and the upcoming nuptuials. maybe some day those of us down here in the usa will finally be able to marry who we want and love. won’t get into the rant now. just congradulations. and I would also sugest the simple kitchen aids like salad spinner, a really good mandolin, and a bread machine. we love ours.

ROFLOL - that was GREAT!! snort snort

bath towels
sheets
comfy pillows

mmmmmm bedding

nice stuff to get all snuggly and close in…
sheets( not the Buzz Lightyear ones…)
pilowcases (comfy pillows as well)
That really fantastic comforter that would look so DAMNED kool on the bed…

hey! its late here… I have my bed on my mind…

while your at it a new bed? Can’t hurt…

I am so excited for you!

Yes, you must have really nice pillows. Goose-down Pillows. You’ll never get out of bed again!

A weird kitchen item that’s nice to have is a very good quality garlic press. You’d be surprised how much the little buggers cost for what they are. It’d be a good lower-cost item for those on a tight budget, though.

If you like soaking in the tub, ask for some fun bath oils and such. Oh, and get a Loufa (sp?) sponge. You can scrub each other’s back.

And like Cat said… a new wonderful bed would be great! that’s a pretty high-cost item, but maybe several people could chip-in on it. (don’t get a cheap bed… trust me on this, Scott, people who don’t sleep well tend to get crabby, and we simply will not have any of that at your Big Fab Gay 50th Wedding Anniversary!

Towels always seem like a better idea than they are, but unless you are going for white there can be a real problem with dye lots. Pillows would be lovely. What about high thread count real cotton sheets. The really good stuff.

And some nice silver serving pieces, for those fab dinners! I was taught at a young age to always give silver for wedding gifts, and today I have a lovely collection of nice dishes and trays and even serving utensils for the fanciest occasion. It’s nice to set a really beautiful table on the exceedingly rare occasions that I do!

Our appointment with Mary Lou, the registry consultant, is at 3 this afternoon, and the store closes at 5… I don’t know how we’re going to get all this done in two hours. I’ll let you all know how it goes.

Oh yeah.

That was intense.

Here’s our preliminary list.

What does “DO NOT US” mean on the gift selection list?

Ah, good choices, especially in the kitchen. As a baker I approve of good cookware.

But a NHL Monopoly? Hockey? I mean, you are Canadian, but a sport where people wack each other around with big sticks?
Where’s the fun in that?:stuck_out_tongue:

Biggirl: I don’t know. Part of the description that goes with the UPC code, I guess.

Baker, yeah, I doubt anyone’s going to buy us the KitchenAid, but you never know.

We still have to go back for the china, toasting flutes, and a couple of things we couldn’t find. (We only had an hour with the scanner thingie.)

You might want to up your dinnerware (plates, etc) needs from 4 to 8. Even for everyday. Otherwise when you have casual company you’ll have to dig into you’re good stuff.
Kitchenaid is good. They also make an excellent hand mixer.
What’s a “toasting flute”?
