My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance

She could just be relaxed around the guy, and convince her friends and family that she finds Steve’s goofy quirks “endearing” or “charming” in a puppy-dog sort of way. But, hey, maybe she feels she has to hold on to her “integrity” of being unable to stand this guy. Yeah, that’ll let her pass this whole sham off as really genuine.

I just caught a few minutes of this show and was mesmerized.

I have never watched another reality show.

I just want to say… I think Steve is cute. He’s fat, there’s no denying it, but it’s in a “more of him to love” teddy bear sort of way. I’d definately date him, based on looks, not the “fake Steve” behavior (ahem…if I weren’t already married to my own adorable teddy bear)

OMG, I forgot to comment on the previews for next week! Did anyone catch the scene where Randi meets Steve’s “family” and they’re just as obnoxious as he is? His “sister” sticks out her tongue to show everyone her chewed-up food! That’s gonna be hysterical!

They’re in on it because they’re actors. I love it–it makes for good TV!

I think she said “Good luck with that”. I loved when she said that because it’s really snarky. :stuck_out_tongue:

I like Steve. He seems cool. I realized recently that before I was married, every guy I dated was chubby with a receding hairline. Only one could be considered “fat”. I broke up with him–not because he was fat, but because he was 36 and I was 22.

I dislike this woman more each week. her family is unbearable too, especially the mother.

I liked that Steve gave her his own list, including a demand that she play with his air.

The stink bomb joke was a little over the top and Randi actually surprised me by laughing at it.

I like the glowering, morbid “sister.”

It should be good when Randi’s family meets the “Williams.”

How about Randi’s dad? There’s a haircut you could set your watch to.

After her hot tub experience, Randi said that she felt she like she was in a circus. I had a vision of Steve’s family sitting around the table, as in Todd Browning’s Freaks, chanting, “One of us, one of us, one of us,” at Randi.

I’m ending up being one of those who has affection for Steve. I was just thinking tonight while watching how pretty his eyes are. I actually think the obnoxious persona is pretty funny. He just doesn’t seem that bad to me. Really!

I did feel a guilty pleasure when Randi was crying because Steve acted like he was falling for her and she felt like it was all getting too serious. It was like she automatically assumed he would fall head over heels for her.

I don’t usually watch reality shows, but I find this one captivating.

I love the sister character. When the sister held her breath in the hot-tub for as long as she could, I thought I was going to die of laughter. That is genius. And the dad says, “There she goes!”

Then, on the previews for next week she yells, “We’re all going to die some day.” … wee. That was funny. I can’t wait to see more of this character.

Words of wisdom: “Some whales commit suicide.”

The sister is great. I loved the look on her face when she had the knife. And I just have to say:

Fonduuuuuue!

Both my wife and I have been watching this show,. and rolling on the floor. We’re in the same boat as you. We don’t think Steve is really that bad.

The “sister” is funny. I like her the best in his family. I think the sister and Randi need to spend the day together. Perhaps she needs to the be bridesmaid.

The one thing I can’t get past is that freakshow of a host. She looks like a transvestite porn star working a haunted house. WTF is up with her?

If they release this show in a DVD box set with deleted scenes,. I’m buying it. I don’t care how much. I love watching that snide little primadonna squirm.

They should have called it “My Bitchy, Stuck-up, Whitebread, Prude Fiance”

Hilarious! The “sister” had me falling out of my chair.

Did anybody notice that it seemed like Randi’s entire family commented on how surprised they were because, though she dated boatloads of guys, this was the first time she said she loved one. Oy.

My first thought after seeing what a horrorshow of a family Randi has: Kiss your dating life goodbye. Even looking past how detestable she is, that family just added “non-television watcher” to the criteria of a prospective boyfriend.

Apparently it won’t be next week’s episode, but the meeting of the families should be terrific. Can’t wait to see the first bit of “girl talk” the mothers have.

Hopefully, once this is all over, Randi and her family will be able to sit back and watch it all objectively, and realize just how badly that stick needs to be pulled a little bit out of their collective asses.

When Steve told his “Mom” about Randi, she said she knew she would love her because Steve loved her. (Something like that.) When Randi’s Mom heard that Randi was in love, she asked Randi, “Will I love him too?” That spoke volumes to me.

Also, I wonder why Randi is so excited for the money. From the looks of Mom and Dad’s house and car, the family seems to be doing OK. Could “earning” the money this way be a rich girl’s attempt at independence? “I don’t need you, Mom and Dad. I can get paid to make a fool of myself.”

Sorry, but that stick is so far up Randi’s mom’s ass is ain’t ever coming out.
What an uptight, close-minded, bitchy shrew. She scares me.

That bit from the previews with her saying, “Oh, Randi, no!” is just terrible. If she’s saying that right in front of Steve and his family in response to the news of the engagement, then she’s a horrible, horrible person.

I’ve actually come to like Randi. She had some funny lines last night (the hip measuring line and the “the food was just a big white nightmare on the plate” line) and her expressive face betrays a kind person behind the uptight exterior. Her family is another story entirely. I think Randi really likes the guy and will come to like him more and more and I would hazard to guess that they’re quite friendly now. Randi doesn’t seem to be inherently bitchy, but rather someone who was brought up in a cold household. And even though I’m typically not attracted to her type, I think she’s pretty hot.

I never thought I’d say this but, after this week’s episode, I’m actually feeling a teeny tiny bit more sympathetic toward Randi.

But only a teeny tiny bit.

She seems to be trying a little bit harder. During her dinner with Steve where she had to convince her best friend that she was in love with him, she actually giggled at a couple of his quirks instead of glowering at him like she usually does. (Of course, she did glower at him when he tortured the shrimp, instead of saying something more playful like “Now now, honey, play nice with the seafood and it’ll play nice with you” – so she hasn’t stopped being a stuck-up prima donna.)

I also thought Steve’s Mom was being just a wee bit intrusive when she asked Randi whether she planned to deliver her 2-3 children “vaginally.”

My most uncomfortable self-realization came after the show was over, and I thought back on that dinner scene where Steve’s Mom was serving super-bland macaroni bake, tuna something-or-other, and Wonder Bread souffle. In their private interviews, both Randi and all of the actors commented on how awful it tasted. I suddenly realized, later, that with a little pepper and/or salt, I’d actually like the kind of food they were eating!

All right, I might be hated soon for this one but … I don’t think Randi is THAT bad!

Honestly, if you didn’t know he was an actor and would witness his clumsyness, his dumb actions, terrible manners and all, wouldn’t you be horrified?! Yes, she is a bit stuck up but honestly, I don’t hate her at all… I don’t think it’s that bad for her to say she wouldn’t date him in “real” life.

Her mom on the other end… yikes… This woman is terrible, the whole 2 minutes I saw of her…

I absolutly love Steven… well, the actor… His laugh is priceless, I could hear him laugh all day.

Her friend judged Steve before he even said a word. She looked horrified that her untouchable friend would actually date someone who was less than perfect. I’m sure that’s the same reaction her family will have. A handsome guy could get away with some of the behaviors, but not Steve.

After last night’s episode, I can’t wait for Steve to humiliate her in front of her family. Randi is so convinced that Steve is in love with her for real, it will be a riot when she finds out he’s an actor.

While watching My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiancé (which I find hilarious), I really drew in question how the family could not realize that this entire event was a charade, despite the daughters best acting efforts. Thus I had an idea that… (following in spoiler text)

the family is in on it too. How else would you explain the camera’s picking up footage of the daughter calling to reveal her engagement? As a result, I think the daughter will get the half million regardless, so long as she tries her hardest to be convincing. I also think this will be a “twist” the show introduces later on.

Count me in as another one who thinks Steve is cute. Especially after he got his hair cut. He’s got beautiful eyes, and I love when he laughs during his private interviews.

I wouldn’t be crazy about his “character”, but he seems like a funny guy when he’s not acting nuts.
