Well Lute, it’s like this. In a couple of posts you stated something as a premise, and based an argument on it in GD. You phrased your premise as something you “thought” or as being your “opinion”. I challenged your premise, and asked for cites. You then whinged that these premises were only your opinion or what you thought and that they were (you said) therefore not an appropriate subject for a demand for citation.
If you don’t want your opinions to be treated as facts, don’t use them as premises for your arguments. Arguments based on premises comprising your unsupportable thoughts or opinions, and which you back away from the second you are called on them, are of no value whatever. It’s GD, not IMHO or MPSIMS. Grow up.
Actually **Bryan ** you entirely misread. The argument that the other side is obsessed is valueless. Period. I say that as a critique of all who indulge in it (including myself in the past). And **Lute’s ** post is not about what you think it’s about.

See, that’s where you went wrong. I wasn’t trying to argue anything, just answering the questions that were posed.
Peter Morris keeps asking the same question over and over again in this thread over in Great Debates , even though he has been given the answer over and over again by other people on another board.
He presents a false choice between:
A. Mr. Randi is telling the truth and
B. Mr. Randi is deliberately lying.
The trouble is, Peter Morris damn well knows the real answer is of course:
C. Mr. Randi made a minor mistake in his statement, and corrected his statement on the other board. Peter Morris is fully aware of both the minor error and the correction, which means that the only lies being told when it comes to this dilemma are being told by Peter Morris.
