My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance

I’m sure they will.

I felt so bad for Randi’s family (esp. her dad, who was the only one to give Steve a fair shake, it seemed), that I hated her for putting them through this.

Humiliating your family (and breaking their hearts) for money?!?
It’d be great if Randi backed out, saying “I can’t put my family through this!” and Fox said “That’s the corect answer. Here’s 2 mil.”
And if the rest of her family then said “Ha! We conned YOU! We were in on it, and did a pretty good job pretending to be repulsed by Steve.”

“Prev. Switzerland?”

Well … this week we didn’t get to see much of Randi being stuck up, or of Steve being obnoxious (except for that one scene around the tux dressing rooms). It was mostly about Randi trying to convince her brothers to come to her wedding, despite the fact that her older brother was going out of his way to be as unsupportive of Randi as possible.

However, I must say I really like the idea of having Rice Krisipes treats and pizza rolls at a wedding reception. If every wedding reception in the country had pizza rolls, all of the nation’s problems would be solved in a matter of weeks!

I haven’t been watching this religiously, but I’ve caught a few episodes, and it is pretty damn hilarious.

I just wanted to add, since it doesn’t seem to have been mentioned yet, a couple of other places you might have seen Steve:

I recently picked up the Angel Season 3 DVD. In episode 4, “Carpe Noctem”, Steve plays “Ryan”, the old-folks home attendant. It was kind of a shock to recognize him (I hadn’t seen that season when it aired—only got into it recently). “Hey,” said I, “it’s Big Fat Fiance!”

He’s also apparently been on several episodes of Buffy.

Here’s his IMDB entry: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0047504/

This family is so freakin’ controlling, I hope they do crack from this! She’s not asking them to marry Steve. They don’t have to like the guy. All she’s asking them to do is to support her. They should understand that even though they don’t like Steve, she does and so they should support her even if they think it’s a mistake.

Now if Randi was saying she was marrying him and joining some cult in South America, then they should get upset. But to get upset because she’s not marrying the right kind of guy, get over it!

Boy, no kidding. I thought her mother was a bitch, but that older brother is a real SOB. What a piece of work he is!

Did you notice how the older brother kept talking about how everything “makes me feel?” It’s not about you, asshole. I actually felt sorry for randi last night. I thought the mom redeemed herself a lot by finally accepting Randi’s decison and going to bat for her with the siblings.

That brother seems to have a real Scarface sister love thing going on. Creepy.

OMG! He gave Spike his soul! Hee!

I only caught the last half of last night, but I think Randi should have just came clean when everybody started freaking out. Less fun that way, it’s true, but she’s got this whole “it’s for the good of the money!” thing that’s kinda creeping me out.

Though I suppose I’d do some pretty low things for that much money too…

I think the dad knows something’s up. Steve even noticed it in the limo. I think the twist might be that the mom and dad knew, but the siblings didn’t.

That meathead brother needs to calm down. He has an unnatural interest in keeping Randi from getting married. I can’t imagine why he would be that concerned.

Was it evil of me to laugh at all of the crying that Randi did last nite. I figure she needed to drink gallons of Gatorade to keep herself from showing how dehydrated she had to be getting. Obviously she is someone who uses tears to get her way. Her family needs to buy a sense of humor.

Am I the only one who got a kick out of the bit last week when the father asked Steve what he did for a living, and he said he designed popup ads? And nobody reacted or scowled or called him a blemish on the face of humanity or hit him with a crowbar?

Nor did anybody mentioned that he’d be unemployable once Microsoft bowed to public pressure and added a setting to Internet Explorer disabling pop-up windows (or at least prompting the user to permit each window on a case-by-case basis).

Safari already has that. Windows is still just trying to keep up with Mac OS and failing.

You know, what bothered me most about last nights episode, was the comment the father made about Steve not having a degree, and therefor not being able to contribute, or find a job. Like you just have to have a degree to be worth shit in his eyes.

I hasten to point out that Windows has had true virtual memory management and process-isolated memory protection since version 3.0. The Mac didn’t get virtual memory until Mac OS 6, and didn’t get process-isolated memory protection until Mac OS 7 (before System 7, all Mac apps ran in the CPU’s supervisor mode). These were both clear-cut cases of the Mac playing catch-up with Windows.

The only reason Internet Explorer doesn’t allow users to decline the creation of pop-up windows is because Microsoft would lose revenue from their advertising partners if they did that. It has nothing to do with “keeping up.”

I think his concern was that, if Steve is going to uproot himself from wherever he’s living now and move to whatever city Randi lives in, his chances of finding new employment in the Pop-Up Ads industry would be hampered by his lack of a college degree.
