My Brother the Chemo Kid

My mom is in the process of knitting a blanket he can take to camp, and he heckles her about it pretty regularly. I’m not sure that’s his bag.

I did want to add that his hair is finally coming back. He had an okay head of hair when we visited - he’ll grow it longer to cover up the shunt and the scar, but he’s not bald at all. And he’s attempting a beard. The sideburns look fine and there’s noticeable chin fuzz, but not much happening along the jawline. But these things take time.

I’m glad to read that he’s hanging in there. Radiation is gonna tire him out, but at least he won’t be sick in the pukey way.

We’re all pulling for him!

Okay, maybe not knitting then – but some kind of project he can work on, make something permanent – what’s the guy equivalent of knitting, models? or some kind of mechano kit or something, like building a robot? Or maybe just a jigsaw puzzle or something – something to actually do that isn’t all that physically demanding.

They escaped Boston last weekend to spend Mother’s Day at home. They told a few friends but nobody in our extended family, guaranteeing more down time. When I arrived Saturday night, there were flowers all over the place and the dogs were all very well attended to. My dad made brownier in two doses and you can guess how that went. A lot of video games were played. Since then they’ve returned to Boston. The Mediport is finally gone, and treatment will be over this coming Wednesday.

I’ve been following this from a distance for a while, and that is good news, and it sounds like quality time with the kid bro was a good time. Hopefully success continues!
