The police are outside, investigating “suspicious activity.” What does that mean? Did they find an al Quaida cell outside? Is someone “casing the joint”? Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes being photographed together? I am curious, but because they’ve closed all the entrances, I will just have to learn to live with my curiosity.

Seems to be an extra special lot of helicopters flying around, too.

So I’m stuck here until the police finish investigating the suspicious activity. Amuse me, Dopers! Tell me what things are like out in the big bad world where I cannot go because my building is in lockdown!

We have been given the all-clear. I spent the last hour stockpiling supplies in case we were in for a seige, as Cunctator suggested, but apparently no go. Not sure what I would have done with all those staplers and paper clips if this really had been a seige, but better safe than sorry.

Too bad. I was kind of looking forward to the SWAT team storming the building.

Naah, go to the window, smash out one of the panes, then stand with your back against the adjacent wall - make very furtive little glances through the broken glass and scream things like “You’ll never take me alive!” - you should also think about formulating some kind of demand and this should include a helicopter, regardless of whether you are actually capable of piloting one.

Actually, don’t do this, of course. Itchy trigger fingers and all that.
