Happy Navratri to all who celebrate!
Thanks!!!
Alright, I can finally take these rakhis off.
 What!? You take rakhis off?
Just kidding. For this very reason, I always make all my cousin brothers (no real ones ) rakhis by hand, and they’re very simple braided cord. That way they don’t need to feel self-conscious about wearing it. No girly foofy stuff.
Haha. Cool. Didn’t expect a thread on this
Now to borrow my neighbour’s kurta pyjamas and sticks. Although I’m not sure if I’ll be playing this year.
xash, i forgot you were in India!
We have a really HUGE great garbha party here…in Edison, NJ. Which is like 3 hours away. SO not very feasible, but occasionally I go anyway.
Or NYC, which is just a tad further. I love Albany but sometimes it’s so hick.
I admit to being completely ignorant about this holiday. sigh
But happy Navratri to all who celebrate it!
So was I. But as it happens, we’re on a board devoted to fighting ignorance!
Sweet! Thanks so much!
Sounds like youse Hindus have fun.
So, I have several Indian shop owners nearby with whom I’m a bit more than passingly acquainted. How would I tell them “Happy Navratri” on my way out? I really think “Todd” the barbeque guy would appreciate it. He works like crazy and I never see or hear about his family.
Happy Navratri to all of you guys! I sure do miss celebrating that because I just moved from India and the Twin Cities doesnt have a whole lot of Indian population to organise something.
But to all the guys celebrating it have a blast for 9 nights!
Wow, this looks like a really fantastic time of year. Have a really wonderful Navratri, everyone!
Celebrate it yourself, in your own home.
No offense to anyone but Albany is full of two kinds of Indians: ultra-traditional South Indians, and Christian South Indians. So I don’t participate in the Indian community at all. I get *looks * because I’m not married and I act awfully white. (Whatever that means). I have fun with my festivals, anyway.
