A sad and shocking update: less than a month after the deaths of Shadow and Elvis, we have now lost a third cat, Tuvix, to cancer.

Tuvix was a great big Siamese guy, 14 years old. He had lung cancer, and had been fairly stable for quite a while. Yesterday we took him to the vet. Last night he worsened suddenly, and by dawn he was dead. This was one of the most loving animals I’ve ever known. He even smooched the veterinarian after she stuck needles in him. I am still in a daze.

My simpleminded friend is gone.
So sweet, a smile wrapped in dark chocolate,
Blue ice eyes with floating flames inside.
The light fled from his gaze
And somewhere, in a far corner of the galaxy,
Two blue stars flared into existence
And, for a nanosecond, the Music of the Spheres
Sounded just like a purr.

That’s so strange, we’ve got a brown tabby named Elvis around these parts too…if yours is anything like ours, I can’t imagine how painful it must be. I’m sorry for both your losses.

I still miss my kitty, and it’s been 3 years now (I dreamed about her last night!). You have my sincerest sympathies.

I’m so sorry, pinkfreud. Just this evening I was talking to my sweetie on the phone, at breaktime. A woman walked by with 2 poodles. I said it reminded me of a poodle we had, Muffin. I said I still think of all the animals we have lost. It’s like losing a friend.
