This morning, one of our cats, who has had heart problems for much of his life, suddenly had heart failure. So we had to take him to the vet and have him put to sleep.
My dear sweet cat, I’ll miss your cute little pink nose. I’ll miss that adorable little squeaking noise you’d sometimes make. I miss your purring. I miss those times when you’d sometimes sit in my lap.
I miss you like crazy. Our whole family misses you. I’m sure our other cat even misses you.
You may be gone, but you’ll never be gone inside our hearts.
He never made it to the vet’s office, and in fact resisted with his last bit of strength being put in the carrier. He obviously wanted to die at home. His dog also got between me and the carrier. She wasn’t going to let him leave.
I’m so sorry, Emily. Pets are family members (and often the best family members, leaving all the insane bullshit to the other humans in our lives) and it always leaves such a hole in your heart when they go.
