My cat just woke me up to turn the fire on. PILE ON CAT PICS!!!

Argh.
I had an early night to make up for lack of sleep the last two nights. Woke up to hear some clattering noises. I live in a terrace house, and since my bed is right by the dividing wall between my house and next door, any kind of noise in the neighbours’ house can sound like it’s coming from mine.
Being excruciatingly tired I just mentally ticked off all the normal security checks and, when no further clattering noises clattered, began to drift off again.
Then my cat Yorkie yowled several times. Not big “Red leptons are eating me” yowls, but it’s not something he does at this time of night. So i drag myself out of bed and creep downstairs in case he is hurt or something, and he’s fine. Has a big old affection attack. Purr purr. Rub rub. Right in front of the gas fire. So I get the hint and turn it on. Whereupon he has no more need of back rubs and flops over. Close up.
While I was typing this he decided it was too hot to be in front of the fire after all and retired to the couch. Stupid cat.
Actually, this thread seems way too mundane apart from the cat pics, which imo are WAY CUTE.
So add your own ones that are really cute but don’t justify a thread in themselves!

BTW Yorkie is 11, and I got him from a local RSPCA shelter 2 years ago.

Well, the only picture I have of my two cats together is one where I’m working out a breast pump for the first time. They’re sitting on either side of me with the oddest expressions. But I think I’ll spare you that one!

But here’s my mama cat Tara with my daughter. The two of them are best of friends. (Although I don’t think they’ve posed for a picture together since then!)

My cat, Ryo, tends to be very “LOVE ME OR I KILLZ UZ!” only when there’s something extra in it for him. He refuses to be coddled. Period. The lightest of pats on the head from most people is all he’ll tolerate before trudging off to flop on the opposite side of the room from whence he can properly glareify the person providing the touch of affection.

Anyway, here’s a few of my favorite pictures.

Eyeing up the enemy. Or dinner, depending on the mood Ryo-kitten is in. The critter he’s staring at in the cage is the family gerbil, Vincent.

AttenTION! One of my Dad’s nicknames for Ryo happens to be Sgt. Major Stripes since he’s a tabby cat. Haha. Bad joke.

Take one more picture, and POW! Right to the moon!!! Ryo will be six this summer. We rescued him from the local animal shelter. Yes, rescued, not adopted. I do not particularly agree with the standards in which that shelter operators under. Very low indeed.

WhyNot, your cat is adorable, your baby girl is gorgeous.

Wally and Eddie are litter mates. As you can see here, Eddie is always the follower.

Never trust anyone who doesn’t like cats

Lunabrat is no longer allowed in my room while I’m sleeping. We’ve tried, but either she lies on my chest trying to stick her snout up my nostril (and she drools, and I’d rather not drown in my sleep), or she paws and burrows around the edges of the covers trying to find both my hands (because obviously I’m just lying there not doing anything - I should pet her). If I ignore that long enough she’ll move to my butt and start drumming. So no sleeping with me for the Lunabrat.

Oreobrat would be okay to sleep with, except she likes to talk in the middle of the night (or day, depending on when I’m sleeping). And Snickers snores. So I sleep with my husband, who also snores, but who has a CPAP machine to make it stop.

You’re doomed. Prepare to make this part of your nightly routine from now until, well, forever.

We have lots of tabby cats. Here is a picture of one of our largest (15-pound Sloopy) with one of our smallest (6-pound Dali). Both are adults, of feral background. They are, as far as we know, not blood relatives.

TPWombat, Yorkie bears an uncanny resemblance to the late Merlyn(of “Ask The Cat” fame). Wasn’t ready for that.

Here is my cat and best friend, Bobo. Here he is in a box. And here he is being a ham. And stretching.

Yes, we take a lot of cat pictures. Here is our other cat, Tabie pretending to be a Christmas present. Here they both are, sleeping, along with the dog.

I think I’ve posted this one of Penny before, but she is on my mind right now. She got out this morning, and hasn’t came back and I’m worried about her. She used to be an outside cat but that was years ago. She is getting older, and generally her days are spent lazing around and hiding under furniture(away from the more rambunctious kitties). I have no idea what possessed her to run out the back door this morning…

Here’s my Ulysses, being lazy in his favorite spot, and waking up from a nap.

Poe and Grendel, doing what they do best.

Poe sleeping in a face-plant on my face, and belly-up. Apparently my cats do nothing but sleep.

Beowulf, taking a nap: Yes, his legs are crossed.

Searching the yard for your missing bright white cat who’s only been gone 30 seconds shouldn’t be too hard. Unless he’s on the neighbor’s chimney.

His less monkey-like brother, Gilgamesh.

His Great Escape involved getting stuck in the crawlspace under than same neighbor’s house.

And once they both got out the upstairs bathroom window and got stuck at the top of our steeply pitched roof. Being less monkey-like, Gil got up but couldn’t get down. He’s sweet, and dumb, and let his evil-genius brother talk him into all kinds of things.

Contrary to popular belief, the fire department won’t get your cat(s) off the roof.

: good wishes :

Sending good vibes your way.

((((MORE HUGS))))) Let us know, please.

And hey, that is uncanny, Inigo.

Bah, Rupert is bored by other cats. Boooring. Booooorrrriiiing!

Actually goofy thing that he is, he actually seems fond of most critters. He loves “playing” with the neighbor’s dogs. Always happy to wrestle.

I’d take more photos of Ollie, but black cats are tough.

Max says “Ah, human! I will put up with you and your little machine!”

Then he reconsiders.
