Okay, so my cat will often sit on my laptop keyboard…just to piss me off I think.
Anyway, somehow he turns off the ability to type any letters. Numbers are fine…I know how to fix that.
There must be a keyboard shortcut.
Thanks for any help.

ummm … one look at your feline friend … i understand the duke’s position … not enough scratching. on a serious note … get into the habit of closing the lid while you get yyour cup of coffee or visit the bathroom. i can imagine having most of the keys depressed will, invariably, mess the laptop’s battery up.
anyway … since you did not elaborate as to how you solved the issue in the past … i gift you with this:
uppps … and remember … give your friend a bit more loving.
My feline overlord has mastered the keystrokes to turn off wireless.
also (win-10) …
control-panel / all-control-panel-items / ease-of-access-center / make-the-keyboard-easier-to-use
filter-key might be what you want to configure?
as always … create system-restore point before fiddling around with these settings … in case something goes awry, you can always go back.
That is one bee-you-teeee-full cat! Seems to me there is a subtle message that you should go back to using pen and paper. Preferably a quill and parchment.
Once my cats were playing Indianapolis 500 and ran across my laptop keyboard. They hit some key combo that turned the screen sideways. <sigh> I googled “cat ran across keyboard screen sideways” and got 377,000 hits. These cats are all laughing at us, you know.
Miss V.C. Swan likes to turn off NUMLOCK and turn on CAPS LOCK (sorry don’t have a pic available), but she doesn’t wait till I’m not paying attention to the 'puter. She walks across, sits on, flops down and lays on the keyboard mostly when I’m actively trying to type.
As was said learn to close the lid when you walk away from it. The cat in the pic is Gorgeous
GAH!damn cat
Ahem, as I was saying, your Cat is Gorgeous, and has exactly the right mix of Regal Looking and Evil Looking for an Imperial Feline Overlord.
It is a not too subtle hint that your hands were made to do other things besides pound the keyboard. BOTH HANDS. Because as every cat will tell you, that’s love. Being petted with one hand is just “lo.” Which is how cats feel when they don’t have your undivided attention.
As for the suggestion that you pet your cat more, they are mostly furry balls of bottomless need to start with. If it was up to your cat you’d quit your job and spend all day tending to them. Cats believe “too much is never enough.”
Just my observations from where I sit … where a speckled cat sits not six inches away waiting to be loved.
Google suggests this software for at least up to Windows 8.

I know them well. They aren’t very tolerant of you picking up a book to read, either. Just try it.
