My cell phone shuts reboots itself - why?

So, I’ve got an LG VX-8350 with Verizon Wireless. Cost me not a whole lot with a 2 year contract. Bought it whenever Iron Man was out in theatres, so I guess last May? Anyhow, this phone has developed a little bit of character lately, in that it will sometimes just reboot itself with no explanation. Just suddenly it’s shutting down and starting up again. I’ve got no idea why it does this, and was hoping some of you might have some ideas.

Odd. You could try replacing the battery, but that costs money.

Since your phone is still practically brand new, you could probably just walk into your local Verizon store and swap phones, minimal fuss.

I get this sometimes too. Also, sometimes mine will lock up. The display will look scrambled and it doesn’t visibly respond to key presses. I pull the battery for a minute and then it straightens out.

I’m looking at upgrading to a Blackberry anyways in the next few weeks because… well… I like shiny toys. This is just kind of annoying me, and my sister has some paranoid theory that someone has put a program in my phone to spy on me.

In which case, I feel REALLY sorry for whoever (NSA? AFOSI? KGB? PTA?) who has to sift through hundreds of messages consisting of “I miss you! I wuv yoooouuuu!” between me and my girlfriend.:stuck_out_tongue:

My husband’s was just doing something similar - it was turning off, sometimes even in the middle of a call. Same phone, bought around the same time. On Thursday he went to the Verizon store and he got a replacement for $50. In the process of giving him the new phone, apparently the old phone’s battery got put on the new phone – the new phone kept turning off, too. So he went back later that day and got the new battery, and all has been well.

So in his case, the battery was definitely the culprit - you might be able to get just a new battery.
