Looking at the venues I am seriously impressed.
I just wish I get the time to see you…sigh.

Friends House was indeed a sauna. And after racing across town from Evensong at the Abbey (dressed in black) we were all dripping. The Musical director of the BBC Chorus, Stephen Jackson, had to change his shirt at one point. It was just like Wimbledon. But the English summer can be relied upon to disappear as quickly as it arrived. Yesterday I went to Brighton and it was bloody cold standing on the pier.
The Mahler went well, although not as well, I feel, as at the final rehearsal. Perhaps an 8.5 out of 10. Some of the tenors in Choir II (although not me, I’m happy to say) made a fairly obvious early entry at one point in the second part. However, the audience loved it and the applause was vociferous. I saw a reasonable review in yesterday’s Telegraph too.
Now onto St Paul’s…
Any news on the Thursday performance? I’ll be in London during a rare visit.
Much as I love Stephen, changing shirts is a regular part of his repertoire. The man could sweat for Britain.
Glad you enjoyed it, and it sounded great on television.
Well, the tour is finished, and I’m back home, feeling quite exhausted. All of the performances went well, including my solos, and everyone had a great time. And I even have quite a large amount of pounds left over! London turned out to be considerably cheaper than I had expected.
I’m sorry not to have got back on this. The Australia House performance ended up being only for a small, invited audience.
That’s OK. My boss dragged me down the pub, so I couldn’t have made it anyway. Glad to hear you a had great time though.
