Hook it up to the PC fire 1394 Firewire and the Computer won’t detect it.
The camera is detecting a computer is there though.
Also this camera has a memory card for still shots - when in this mode, connected via USB the computer will detect it.
I tried to disable and then enable my the Firewire - didn’t work, the old shut down and restart I tried, I tried updating software, but computer says best driver already installed.
What should I do next? (besides go to bed at 12:30 in the am?)
What do you mean by the “computer doesn’t detect” the camera? Do you mean that it does not show up as a drive in My Computer, or that it doesn’t show up as a video device in Device Manager or a video editing application? The Firewire port on the camera is not for transferring photos and video files back and forth from the camera. It is for streaming live or recorded digital video to an appropriate application, like video editing software.
Also, what version of Windows do you have, and what are you trying to do?
I don’t know anything about that camera, but my digital cameras have two different USB modes: PTP mode and USB mass storage mode. Mass storage mode mounts on your computer like an external hard drive, while PTP mode only works through software (and allows you to do other things with the camera other than just move files around–for instance, you would use PTP mode for tethered shooting and things like that.)
Have no idea if this could be your problem, but worth putting it out there.
ETA: I somehow missed that you were talking about Firewire. This wouldn’t apply, then.
