My current obsession: SkyCards! Anyone else play?

I briefly played Pokémon Go when it came out. As I recall, it’s a similar collecting concept, but the main difference was that you actuallly had to go to various locations to gather Pokemon. No virtual travel allowed

A lot of rarities around Boston just now. And two uncommons that I didn’t already have, so only three left for that category.

This morning I caught an IAI Kfir, an Israeli fighter, curiously with a US “N” registration number. Rarity 10.01

Probably owned by Airborne Tactical Advantage Company (ATAC). They are basically a privately owned Aggressor Squadron based in VA. It’s a sweet gig if you can get it. They own/fly Kfirs, Mirage F1s, Hawker Hunters, and L-39s.

Huh…didn’t realize that was a thing, at least in terms of private companies.

Odd that the game’s algorithm puts the rarity at only 10.

Thanks for the tip! Caught enough rare birds there to level up in only 10 mins.

You’re welcome

I caught an extremely rare 1/1 called a Noorduyn Norseman near LA today. 15.44 rarity, now my 4th-rarest plane! Used 8 Catch Agains on it… it’s still up as I’m posting this if anyone’s hunting.

Wow, what a catch! Just grabbed it twice - and a nearby P-51 and Cessna P210 (both ultra rare) as well. Thanks! Well worth the 43 coins for a trip to LAX.

ATAC is the source of all the Hawkers and Mirages I’ve seen participating in the exercise off Monterey Bay.

Those that participate in the other aviation threads here will remember that it was one of their Hawkers that was responsible for the near-accident in Vegas a while back that generated a lot of discussion here.

Launched for the first time and played for a bit while waiting for RimWorld to load. Caught a Twin Huey out of Andrews AFB.

A couple of weather balloons and a Goodyear blimp are out over Ohio right now.

Flying Fortress Sentimental Journey is up out of Hagerstown, MD. Out of range for me at the moment.

Four Piper Super Cubs, lined up nose-to-tail, over Detroit. That’s kinda weird.

Does it seem like the missions are sometimes impossible? Yesterday’s including catching an autogyro. I was visiting Toulouse, and was supposed to catch two planes leaving the small downtown airport. I checked a couple times and never saw any planes from there.

I was about to say the same thing about Detroit, but the helicopter I need has shown up. Looks like the only two of that model are with a medflight service there.

I caught them all! Sounds like a few buddies having a good time.

If you have a catch anywhere burning a hole in your pocket, there are often Boeing MQ-28 Ghost Bats flying around just NW of Adelaide, AUS. 14.19 rarity and worth about 8k XP.

I was wondering if there was some big event going on in Detroit today and they were towing advertising banners. The lead plane was only doing 32 knots.

I do have a few Catch Anywheres, but I’m saving one for a Fokker F27 that flies out of Dar Es Salaam. I’ve already missed it one.

One thing I’ve started doing is, if I need a particular rare aircraft, travel to a nearby airport and catch it, and also try to complete the steps necessary to get free trips to that airport for the rest of the week. I have Detroit and SeaTac free for the rest of this week. Now I can use that to collect planes and airports in those areas. Got a few Beavers and Otters from a seaplane operator near Seattle. I definitely want to catch planes flying to Tacoma Narrows and Renton Municipal, since I flew at both of those airports. It’s a little tricky, since a lot of VFR flights don’t seem to have a destination of record.

Some days, the daily tasks are ridiculous… like there’s no way to complete them without spending a buttload of coins or using some combination of Catch Anywheres or travel tickets. It is what it is, I guess. I typically only get all of the daily tasks completed 3-4 times per week.

As for the weekly tasks at a particular airport, Skydex is your friend!

Ugh. Not sure I needed more fuel for this particular fire, but thanks nonetheless.

Thanks! Just went and got one, and will keep mining that particular lode until I’ve gotten that one to silver.

Yeah, I’ve seen “catch an autogyro” and “catch 3 helicopters” on separate days in my home area. Went over to LAX to find helicopters (including a Chinook) only to find those didn’t count.

Thanks to Skycards, I’ve discovered there are way more autogyros in the world than Lupin III and the Castle of Cagliostro lead me to believe.

I got my first helicopter up to platinum this week, the Black Hawk… I unlocked DC for the very first time hoping that it would get the Black Hawk over the threshold to platinum, and it sho’ 'nuff did! I’ve also unlocked more airports this week than I ever have before, so chances are pretty good that I can catch something cool almost any time of the day. One of my more productive weeks in recent memory, and it’s only Wednesday!
