How can I get a print of the DNA picture that law enforcement would use to connect/exclude me to a crime? Or, more boring, for paternity proof.
You know, the one CSI would use. Only prettied up with background color for a wall hanging.
I found services online, but they provide the sequecces for eye color, etc.
Peace,
mangeorge
What I believe you are asking for is called a DNA fingerprint.
Here is a pretty one- Free Stock Photos, Vectors, Cliparts, PSD & Icons | FreeImages
Except that DNA fingerprints don’t look like that anymore. Those are bands from running the markers out on an acrylamide gel. Most genotyping labs use capillary machines now - you see peaks of fluorescence intensity that correspond to the different sized alleles.
That’s cool, but I want my own DNA. I’ll search using “DNA fingerprint”.
You are looking for someone to do a DNA fingerprint on your own DNA? got it. Good question.
I’m not endorsing them, but I believe that This company does it.
They seem to “art” it up though.
These guys sell “DNA portraits” which presumably use some sort DNA fingerprinting technique. They’re pretty vague on what exactly they’re doing though. I don’t know if what they’re doing is comparable in any way to the standard forensic DNA fingerprints.
ETA: Too slow! ah well.

Yeah, the gels on their website don’t look like microsatellite markers. They look like RAPDs to me, which no self-respecting DNA fingerprinter would use.
But they are easy and cheap. Makes me wish I’d thought of it - after the inital equipment costs, it costs about a dollar for the materials - maybe $10 including the collection vials and postage, then sell the image for several hundred dollars. A nice scam.

Yeah, that’s it. “Art it up” is good.

Sure, as is just about any money making scheme, right?
I don’t consider it any of my business what a product costs to produce. My business is whether the product is what I want and costs what I’m willing to pay for it. And those two things are up to me to decide.
Which is probably why I’m poor. And worry free.
