Awww, he sounds like a good dog! Good thing he was friendly, otherwise he might have . . . oops.
Stoid, you have my condolences. I grew up with dogs, have always loved them. It broke my heart when they died. I currently own a pit bull and a Rottweiler. I don’t let them roam the street. You really should go after the dog’s owner legally. Allowing children to handle a pit bull or any 60-pound dog unsupervised is terribly irresponsible, and any dog that kills another dog, except in defense of it’s owner, should be euthanized. I don’t know what the laws in your area say you can do, but almost everywhere the owner will be held responsible for your vet bills, possibly cremation costs if you can determine who owns the beast.
sorry about the inaccuracies there, checking the links, other posts, etc, I got confused. Stoid, your dog was not badly injured, correct? Echo the point that you really need to identify the owner, report the attack to animal control. Maybe one of those telescoping baton things.
No prob.
Not only is Maggie ok, she’s gotten a measure of fame. At the park yesterday, everyone who met her and heard about her tangle said: "Oh, so YOU’RE the one we heard about that took on the Pit Bull!’ She was very proud of herself.
