My dog is acting very anxious - would like help soonish

Thanks, Bullitt. We don’t usually have earthquakes in this part of Texas, but this is a whole new world now.

I’ll be taking her back to the vet tomorrow for a glucosamine shot and further consultation. Just needed to get through the weekend. At least she had her first symptoms on Thursday. Usually if one of the animals is going to get sick or injured it’s at 6:05 pm on a Friday.

What pain med is she on? We’ve had good results with Simone taking both Rimadyl and Tramadol. This summer she spent about two weeks red-eyed and listless before we hit on that combo and she perked right up and began to enjoy life again.

Our other dog, Luna, has a message for Sweetie.

Thank you for this. I just called the vet tech and asked him about this combo. Right now, they are giving Sweetie steroid shots for three days, and since Rimadyl is an NSAID, they will likely switch to it after the course of steroids.

Tramadol is an opiod and is comparable to the Torbutrol that she’s on right now. The vet tech said that when they switch her to Rimadyl, they might very well switch to Tramadol, too. He said that’s a common combination. Very good input!

Awww… thank you. I’ll show it to Sweetie when I get her home.

The upshot seems to be losing weight, anti-inflammatories (steroid now, NSAID later), managing pain, and somewhat limiting activity comprise the treatment plan.

Sweetieis the black and white dog, Buddy is the other dog in bed with Tikva, the calico cat. (I understand that this inter-species fraternization is already illegal in some Southern states and will soon be outlawed all over the country.)

No advice here, just best wishes for Sweetie! What an awesome trio of troublemakers.

And there are two more cats not pictured.
