My dog is weird

Gigi the wonderdog hates fireworks. That’s not weird. She also hates thunderstorms. That’s not really weird either. What is weird is that we live near Fort Sill, aka the “Field Artillery Capital of the World.” There are days that artillery is shot all day long and into the night. If I don’t know what the atmospheric conditions are, I can’t tell if it’s artillery or thunder. The easiest way to tell is to look at Gigi. If she’s shaking like a leaf on a tree, it’s thunder. If she’s sound asleep, it’s artillery.

Weird.

Maybe the lightning cues her. We have a scaredy-dog too, and he cringes at the flash.

Isn’t the title redundant? Our pug will go bat-crap crazy with barking if she sees a school bus drive by, but if I’ve got her outside the yard on a leash, she completely ignores the bus.

Face it, dogs=weird.

Loud, unexpected noises = scary. Loud expected noises = not-so-scary.
I wonder if the dog can something that you can’t, like the sound of the artillery being fired before it goes :boom: downrange

* Ha, whadda know, [colon] [BOOM] [colon] gives you the above explosion/boom symbol, & adding a second colon makes it a small boom.
